Going to give this a go, the original Diaries book (1983-1991) is a great read, regardless of what political persuasion you are. Clark always struck me as a mix between Peter Stringfellow, Toad from Wind in the Willows and Bertie Wooster, not sure whether I'd have wanted a character like him as my MP though !
Is a mainstream showing of the series that was on BBC Four a couple of months ago, John Hurt plays Clark - has been very well reviewed but only 1 way to find out if that is correct.
