I have just got a laptop with a second hard drive which is swappable with the floppy drive.
The floppy drive works fine. However when i put in the hard drive it is recognised in the bios settings and on device manager but does not appear in my computer!! Therefore i have 60 gig of harddrive i cant get at!!
Its driving me mad. can anbody offer any suggestions. would be extremely grateful and worth a pint on saturday to anybody who solves the problem!!

What motherboard and hard drive do you have? Need exact details Otherwise, its windows being shoddy - make sure all pins and clips are entirely secure.

trying to respond to all above replies(i knew the offer of a pint would help!!)
How do i format the hard drive if i cant see it in my computer?
Hard Drive shows in device manager as IC25N06ATMR04-0. Motherboard Intel(R) 82801EB(not sure if thats right?!?)
All connections should be ok. The drive just slot in! it says its ok in device manager.
although In device manager under policies tab it says status 'not initialised'
dont know if any of that helps!!

Should already be formatted. Is the boot up sequence the same for a laptop as it is for desktop effort? It could be corrupt.

A woman round the corner rang my mum the other day to ask if she knew why her VD (Yes, she actually said VD) player wasn't working.
The fault? It wasn't connected at the back!
