I can't say I'm a massive watcher of stand up comedy but I do quite enjoy watching the jasper carrot shows when they are on the BBC.
That said I would like to watch the Peter Kay live shows; one of my mates at uni has been to see him live and also recommends it very highly.

I hear cynical shrew is a comedian or a joke at least.

Billy Connoly is still IMHO by far the best. Have seen him live and nearly wet myself laughing

I love watching Peter Kay's stand up stuff, but the best has to be Jack Dee.

Lee Evans especially before he started swearing. Phil Jupitus is a good laugh too

Bill Bailey is always good.
Saw Jonny Vegas before he became famous, he did gigs in his home town of St Helens where I have a few relatives and he was very good...

that Peter Kay DVD is simply awesome, the situational comedy is brilliant, that bit about the chippy, "£20 going in" etc etc
and then at the wake when they all had reminders of their loved ones
there were tears at that point
"i saw a pack of quavers and knew it were him"

Dave Spikey's DVD had me in tears. He cuts a load of columns out of the orbituaries page and reads them out. Funny ones, like. And ones with spelling mistakes...
"Beloved father and husband, always p**sed"

West Ham v Man utd, last game of the season, utd needed to win to win the league and managed a 1-1 draw.
I paid 15quid for my ticket and Andy Cole made me laugh so much my cheeks and throat ached for days (he must have missed 25 sitters). Best 90 minutes of comedy ever!!

Peter Kay referred to the questions always asked by passengers to the driver when in a taxi. "Are you busy?" "What time did you start?" "What time do you finish?" Exactly the same questions that I ALWAYS ask myself!! So the next time I got in a taxi, I sat there without saying a word!!

Frank skinner is the man, can be very rude but in a cheeky chappy way, "not chubby brown" also does a lot of footie stuff, alas since joining itv he rarely tours now, but any of his live videos are well worth a viewing.

Daniel Kitson. The best there is. By a long, long way. Agreed. Saw him do stand up in The Bedford pub in Balham one new years eve. Not long after he was appearing in Phoenix Nights!

Jasper Carrott for me!! I just love the expressions on his face! Mr Wiggy loves the car jokes. I've heard some people say he can be critical and offensive- I've never found him so- in fact, he laughs at himself as much as anyone else- calls himself a "Baldy Coot!"

My brother got the J Vegas DVD for crimbo - whos for ice cream - and its really funny, but quite surreal stand up. And as for hecklers (which he had a lot of due to the drink he and his fans intake) nobody can get them back better than Vegas (even when he is p**sed)

For value for money, how about Ken Dodd? He never wants to leave the stage, and the evening audience is queuing to get in before he's finished his matinee show. His shows are always sold out not long after going on sale. Otherwise, Peter Kay for me. Saw him in Manchester (come to think of it, that's where I saw Doddy the first time), and he was hilarious.
