Bit harsh lads - That chance near then end was not put wide he had it save (very well by the keeper)
He played ok today (well better than Lukey) and was the best of the forwards today I say unlucky - first half a great header that the keeper save (and likey should have tucked away) and a couple of really good chances late on but the fact remains that the rest his play was neat and tidy
The one issue is who is at fault for the flick ons problem between Him and Luke? - he gets to alot nowadays but luke is never ready for them - If I was Dearbs i would take it on my chest every time as he looks class with ball at feet. A

Thought he had a decent first half but forgot to turn up second half.
Him and Luke up front ain't gonna work.

Back from injury. Not many first team opportunities all season. Gets fit and then our games are sporadic. Needs to play week in and week out to get his season started.
However I still see Cramb and Rodgers as first choice.
Little chance of them starting a game together as a front two I would have thought.

I think Darby is getting better.
Interestingly their 'keeper was voted MOTM today - and the two saves he produced from Darby were quite simply brilliant.

Darby's fault is a lack of confidence. Confidence to shoot mainly. Couple of blokes by us at HT were moaning included in that was about Darby...I tried (in vain) to tell them that if you dont play to his strenghts you wont see the true Duane Darby.

Playing DD as a big target man is clearly not working. Why, oh why does it take Quinn half a season to work out what every one of the supporters can see after just a few games (like Rioch at left back).
DD and Rogers will not work, almost every ball DD knocks on is the wrong side of Luke. It is a bit like Watts and Luke earlier in the season.
Not got a problem with his work rate, he just ain't going to fit into this team - is Quinn going to change the whole team to fit DD or is he going to play someone better suited to the teams style of play?

Duane Darby isn't a big target man and never has been either
He's 5' 11" the same height as Colin Cramb
I don't recall seeing Rushden ever lump aimless long balls at him like we persist with doing
We need to play to his strengths or not play him at all
Playing to his strengths involves playing balls into his chest or to feet and playing with two wingers who can get past their full backs and cross from near the byline, that's how I recall Rushden played with him in the side and he got 1 in 3 for them

all the criticisms on here are exactly the same as what was written about Cramb as well bottom line is maybe Jemson was good after all

mate made an interesting comment yesterday... now jimmy quinn was a big target man most of his career. So he is always going to encourage the long ball.... its so dull and boring thou... play to feet man, play into the flanks for luke to run onto.

To be fair I think we have been playing it more to the feet of the strikers in recent weeks.
Generally, Darby's hold up play was good, but Town were so slow getting forward collectively yesterday the ball then often had to go backwards to retain posession.
I think Darby's worth perservering with and I expect him to start next Saturday.

I have to grudgingly agree with Welshrew, Rodgers and Darby just ain't going to work- we have to put our faith in the Cramb/Rodgers partnership and give it a another go.
I have to admit though, I did like it when Derby and Cramb were both up front though...
