Wouldn't matter to me if they played it at 4.00am on a Tues morning. I'd still be there and have a few pints before the game. There won't be any trouble if Wolves are playing at home and the so=called Stirchley Crew wouldn't frighten my 7 year old. haha im in stirchley, i have a burberry scarf so am i part of the crew?! but then again i have black converse trainers with pink laces - will they let me into a "crew" with them? looks like i cant have a pint with jules before the game now

At last someone has mentioned Laptop. Perhaps he would like to come on this site and explain the reasoning behind this rediculous decision. Why can the same police force control a match at night when the pubs have been open for over seven hours but cannot police the same fixture at three in the afternoon. Why is it that Police forces throughout the country can Police far more volatile fixtures at the traditional time but Shropshires finest are worried about 20 or 30 cap wearing gibbons . Decent law abiding people have been punished because of West Mercia's inability to do it's job.

It's not down to him to explain it, the owd lad has already been very helpful so we shouldn't be directing any anger at him, it should be directed at his so-called superiors who amazingly came up with such an appalling decision

Have to agree guys. Yet again the real fans lose out because of minority intent on spoiling it for the rest of us. It won't be the same at noon because there's no time for a pre-match drink, and you can't beat the traditional 3pm kick-off.
However, surely this is no surprise. A 12noon kick-off was inevitable because the police had insisted on a 12noon kick-off for the match on October 11th prior to its postponement. Therefore they are merely applying the same logic now that they did then.
One more thing - presumably there is no chance at all of this game being all-ticket is there? I can't see us bringing more than 1,500, but we do always bring a few extra away from home for Cup/Trophy games, and it is a Saturday (unlike the League game).

I never knew Stirchley had a 'crew'. I've heard rumours of their being one on Brookside too but I have never come accross either in my time spent living in the area!

PPP-Why ?...... because the match going fans of STFC have fulfilled their part of the bargain by behaving responsibly ,representing the club and town in the correct manner, by instigating various iniatives to show the club in the correct light. This was the ideal oppertunity to show the fans some trust and they,ve missed it.

In that example you're talking about the Police collectively, in the post that I questioned you said "i firmly believe that he's let us down" I fail to see how the PC (laptop) can be criticised in isolation for this if he deserves criticism at all, hence the question

Yes, you better hope that nursing homes for the severely elderly have SKY, otherwise you'll not be allowed out that late at night when you get into the premiership!

The police decision is a joke and if the club can object, I think they should do. As far as I know there was no trouble at the league match earlier in the season, and very little trouble in Shrewsbury on recent matchdays. There was a small incident after the Hereford match, which due to the good policing, did not amount to anything.
If the league match at telford could have been played at telford on a friday night - why is it so different to play a cup match at 3pm saturday? there is still the chance for people to drink for hours before 7.45pm on a friday night as there is 3pm sat.

The club's view is that it means less time for anyoe to be in the pubs and most trouble is alcohol related.

so why can we play them in a night game only weeks later when the pubs will have been open all day ?

the Hereford match was 3pm k.o and there seemed to be more chance of trouble then, than with Telford

Alchohol related - Absolutly wrong.
Trouble occurs at football because 2 groups want to knock the living daylights out of each other.
Pubs are used as meeting points but are not the cause and effect of soccer violence - That excuse is very lame, how on earth do the police manage at other clubs if they cant even control a conference game?
If you think about it, it may well have something to do with the police force not wanting to pay overtime rates as having a 12 noon kickoff would allow the bulk of police to knock off around 5pm - just a thought!

If it does go to a replay I guess the Leigh game will have to be postponed and we'll lose the SKY date. Useless. I guess the Leigh game will go back to the Saturday if the FA Trophy tie goes to a replay?
