I remember that league cup game Chris, still think we was robbed. I remember the Police behaviour that night was the total opposition of the way Laptop acts. Remember Chris Smith being thrown to the ground by one of West Midlands finest , then loads of people pilled in to help him. Another load then stepped in to pull them away to stop a nasty incident happening.

Im Sure, cant be certain, that the first match I went to, was against Hartlepool, would be about 1967. What season did we beat Port Vale 7-3? I think it was around that time...

First match without my dad was mid-sixties v Mansfield, on the day the 'new' office block was officially opened: we won 1-0
Not sure about first away match but it might have been Oldham, 1967-68; travelled on the specially chartered train & remember being astonished to see a completely brown pitch apart from a bit of grass in the 4 corner circles. Result was 0-0

Home game was against Watford - pre-season.. think it was 75-76. Ian Atkins scored a penalty down the Wakeman End second half
Away game was against Tranmere on Apr 8 1977, we lost 2-1 with Ian Atkins scoring another penalty.. I got confused that day as before then Town always wore blue and amber and I got well puzzled when I thought Town were Tranmere but saw Paul Maguire in red !

This is a popular thread - it repeats every 6 months or so I know I was taken as a small child in the early '50's, but the first game I can put a date to is Ken Smiths debut v. Newport County on 12/10/1957.

I hope you've got your tickets for the Barnet games! ;D I don't have a priority card as I'm 2 and don't need one at The Meadow, so I can't get a ticket in advance like my 4 year old brother couldn't for Tamworth. He had to nick grandad's voucher. Mini SandR1 isn't very well either - no granny and grandad don't know for appropriate parties so don't let on until daddy says something - PM mummy if you want to know uncie D. Hopefully he will be OK for the Monday game. Sammy Aiston's shirt needs another outing as a dress! .

Can't remember opponents or score but was towards end of 94/95 season, and has sadly largely been downhill since then, perhaps I'm a jinx !!

York away first match of the season August 1992. Lost. We were on holiday and my then young son said I've never been to a live match can we go. I hadn't been to one since about 1971 so I said OK.
Afterwards I said we'll go to the return match at the Meadow in February. But by the following Saturday I'd said OK let's go again - Doncaster I think - won 1-0 and the rest as they say is history...................................
