I am in agreetment with the decision. Some people who don't normally go may be put off if it is. Yes some people may be dissapointed, but the simple answer to this is get to the ground early!

It takes away the point of having a priority card. But, on the other hand, it gives everyone an even chance. So I am happy with it, and think it's the right decision, apart from the fact that I will have to listen to Now 1993 over the tannoy for two hours before kick off.

* It is likely that there will be more people wanting to get in than spaces are available. I've based this on the Luton match from 2002. That was to try and get into the play offs and we sold out our allocation. This year we have been better supported and a game on Bank Holiday Monday with so much riding on it will see huge crowds. Made bigger by it not being all ticket.
* If made all-ticket, STFC can ensure the agreed ticketing policy is put into place. Everyone who has a season ticket or priority card is guaranteed a ticket.
* Tickets would probably almost sell out in 3-4 days. Even if we got spanked 4-0 down at Barnet, the club is guaranteed revenue.

My personal opinion is that if the gaem was all-ticket it would be a high attendance, probaably around 7,000 but not quite a sell out.
However with the game being not all ticket, I'm sure a lot of people will decide to go on the day and we could see a number of dissapointed faces when people are locked outside e.g. Carlisle last season

Ian, has this decision been made by the club and with the agreement of the police.
If the police have not been consulted do they have the say so to revert the game to an all ticket affair.
We can all remember the late turn around with the telford away game, although that was decisions made from the telford end of things.

I think people would prefer the guarantee of a ticket to ensure that they can get in the ground as the general consensus is that a lot of people will be going. I would have thought that a lot of people would have gone anyway but with it being a bank holiday you'll get a lot more going (a lot of my mates either aren't Shrewsbury fans or haven't gone to many games this season but are all planning on going). Never know with Shrewsbury fans though, we're an unpredictable bunch ;D I mean last season everyone talked about the Wxm game but we only had 3,500 town fans there and then we have around 4,000 for someone like Macclesfield Basically the club is in a no win situation, make it allticket people will complain they can't get tickets, people will be put off etc. Make it pay on the gate and people will complain theres no guarantee of them getting in

And if it is pay on the day and we were to fill our areas (I believe we will come close) your always running the risk of our fans simply going in the away end I'll wait and see though as thing change very quickly, a week before the Telford game (trophy replay) I was chatting to a high-ranking official and he said there was no way it would be all ticket (he wasn't happy with that and predicted chaos), less than 24 hours later it was announced it would be allticket

I do think Paulk is right - whatever the situation some fans could well be annoyed. If it's not all ticket then there is the possibility of some being locked out - if it's all ticket then there's the possibility of some not getting tickets etc.
However the club should be looking to minimise how many supporters are dissapointed and, agreeing much with welshshrew's statement, I think it should be all ticket.
In the case of an all ticket affair any loyal fan should get a ticket - all that is required is a priority card to be absolutely guaranteed a ticket - and after last season's FA Cup run any Town fan who hasn't got one is running the risk...

"apart from the fact that I will have to listen to Now 1993 over the tannoy for two hours before kick off. "
I hope not, I did a CD for the club the other week with up to date stuff on. Admitedly its mainly pop (therefore crap) but at least its newer stuff., well apart from Hendrix!
As for the home leg, I will be down there very early to avoid disappointment. I do think it will be a sell out and not making this all ticket is a surprise. I hope the club are right, as they were with both Telford games.

I hope you aren't including the great man under the mainly pop catergory either.

Yes I know what you mean TelfordShrews but I was just saying that theres some people who will complain no matter what happens (Im sure Mr Whitfield will testify to that)
How many threads have there been by people not happy with the not all ticket decision? Im sure that had it been announced that it TEXT allticket there would be posts slagging the club off saying this is the incorrect decision

if it was all ticket, season tickets, super blues, priority cards should have priority in that order, but then we'd probably end up with all the flamin letters to the star 'my son goes to every game but didn't get a ticket blah blah blah'
solution = simple - buy a priority card

Its a risk,
however I would argue that the all ticket theme against Everton and Chelsea worked fine, so why change something when it aint broke.
There could quite easily be chaos on monday, huge ques, late kick off people getting very angry, or everything could work fine.
One question. Will there be turnstiles open for people with just a priority card, tunstiles for people with super blues and again turnstiles open for those with season tickets?

why is it such a bad decision to not make it all ticket? discuss... I'm concerned for the season ticket holders in the Wakeman Stand especially. Seems to me as though they are going to have to take their chances with the people who will be going to their first game of the season/century Anyone without a ticket will have to get to the ground about noon I would have thought.

F shape chord sliding two tones up and down, hammering on and releasing the first string with your little finger as you move - that's how you do the basic rhythm.

F.A..O. Ian Whitfield
As a season ticket holder I think the decision NOT to give any priority to season ticket holders and priority card holders is a big mistake. Once again Mr Whycherley and his crew have let us down. It only goes to show what they really think of the loyal supporters. I notice other clubs in the play offs can make arrangements to give priority to season ticket and priority card holders so why not us??
I certainly won't be happy if I don't get in.
I can't wait for my season ticket renewal letter to drop through the letter box. I suggest the board will need to do some serious grovelling to get me to part with my money again.
Question for the Chairman: Where is the show of respect and loyalty to your core base of fans.

It is far more dangerous to have fans complaining outside a ground during the game than by letter later.
There is no way of ensuring segregation and that can lead to trouble. Say Town fans can't get in but there were space in the Barnet end - as may happen - what will the fine be if it all kicks off? WHat responsibility will SHrewsbury Town take IF someone got injured given the possibility of problems has been highlighted clearly?
How the hell do you keep young kids of 2/4 stood up and entertained after a 1 1/2 hour drive to get to the game, and a possible two hours prior to the game inside the ground? It will be bad enough without the drive.
There are disabled pass holders who can take standing for the game - but an extra two hours on top? I suspect at least one person will need to be on crutches for up to a week after a need to stand for that long.
People are being forced to be in the ground early - and no, I won't use the buffets.
Why did I buy a priority card? Why did people buy season tickets? Fat lot of good they are. Why sell they on the back of a ticket guarantee if you are not going to do that? A bit like the special prices days that never happened when the ticket price was kept as it was.
Just in case the arguement is - we couldn't get the tickets done in time as we didn't know the opponents - As soon as Town were in the playoffs they could have printed and sold the tickets as Shrewsbury Town v Other - Play Off semi final. They could have been sold for the last home game if it was sorted Saturday night and the printers were primed.
As a family that got locked out at Rushden - I know how angry people will be.
IF it happens to us.....I suspect that I will win the arguement for priority team following in our household for next year - without any opposition.

Good decision in my opinion, even though i was one of the unlucky ones that got locked out for the carlisle match. Its all about supply and demand, most regulars will get to the ground early, if you dont then its your own fault if you dont get in, sure there will be a few locked out of the game but hey, if they only gave Barnet 800 seat tickets and then gave the station end to salop fans, that would be an extra 1700 town fans at the game.

Has a decision been made on the Barnet allocation? 800 sounds plenty to me, given the Shrewsbury demand.

Its all about supply and demand, most regulars will get to the ground early, if you dont then its your own fault if you dont get in But as S&R says, what if you've got kids, how do you entertain them? And surely if they gave PRIORITY to season tickets, priority cards etc, then that would deal with the loyal fans, to save them turning up extra early to the game, and those loyal supporters who don't have a priority card, season ticket, super blues, who you say would be there early could just turn up early for general sales. I appreciate that decisions can be hard to make at times, but i feel that this time they have got it wrong.

S&R's post is absolutely spot on. Can't really improve on that. I can't believe that many businesses would treat loyal customers in a similar way. People are simply asking to give money to the club in order to guarantee admission.
As I said on an earlier thread Exeter had over 8,000 yesterday against Accrington and I cant imagine that too many had travelled from Accy. A similar turnout at the meadow would have 2000 locked out, possibly including many season ticket holders.
I was also at the Swansea match in the mid 90's where a voucher was supposed to guarantee a ticket for the Liverpool match. The system didn't work and caused lots of bad feeling between the club and many loyal supporters.
In recent years the systems have been fair and clear, I think those people who deserve tickets have generally got them. I really hope it doesn't go wrong next week.

Im astounded that it is not all ticket. In terms of importance the next three games make the chelsea/everton thing look small. They where, at the end of the day, of purely spectakle value, a chance to see a couple of big clubs play at GM. But these are about getting back into the football league, and in my opinion, of far greater importance, and I feel shore an awfull lot of shrewsbury people will realise that and want to attend.
I would agree that either way, all ticket or not, a number of people will be disappointed, but from a crowd control point of view, I can see this being an absolute nightmare if not all ticket.
I think its time to shake down the tent and make sure of my place in front of the turnstiles
