Ron can't be allowed to get away with a comment such as that, but i give him credit for doing the honourable thing and resigning.

Thnak god, i find it offensive enough when he littesr the commentry with terms like "lollypops" and "hollywood pass" so at least we dont have to endre the crap he talks on mike as well as off it totally in the wrong and deserves no credidt for walking as he would have been sacked anyway And just cos he played balack players does (being carefull) mean his is not something else which a few of the papers have suggested today - if anything his dealings with other minioritys might have turned his opinian another way for all we know??? What ever he should be of TV for some time now and thats right as well Bye Ron

I think the guy is just incredibly stupid rather than an active racist, and do actually have some sympathy for him.
Had to walk.

It was entirely appropriate that he showed himself the early door.

Gpricey, Please don't ask for our old friend Cynicalshrew to be thrown off. We could have so much sport with him. People like him are so one dimensional its untrue. Give peolple on here, members and guests, a little bit of credit. Without exception they will be able to see through his wafer thin smokescreen and treat him like the complete spoon he is. The most effect way of dealing with bullies and their ilk is to laugh at them long and hard.

In fairness jamo i personally hate raisim to such a degree that i cant stand it when idiots like this put up mindles rubbish as the above - i dont want to play and mock them and give them space to air views like that - i dont want to read it - and i feel strongly about it!!!! But im starting to think that rasism cant be split away from this board and football in general and its the major problem i still have with the game I love And to describe Cynical Shrew as a an old friend (toung in cheek or not) is wrong hes a raseist theres no getting around. he guy above is the same too, to scared to register and post it - I know having met most of the regulars now that none of us would habour a comment like that in our minds - but if one single guest was put of this board and the town in general because of seeing that our message board allows comments such as this it would be sad Rant over

Old Friend was indeed said . Irespect you views on this matter pricey and know that a lot on here would share them. It's just that whilst i don't find rascism in the least bit funny there is something slightly comical about the idiots who espouse it . I work closely with an afro carribean and asian guy and the way these two deal with people like cynical is to humiliate them with superior intelligence and to laugh at them, i find both these stratergies very effective.

fair enough seems like hes gone now any way jamo - and as you said there is noting wrong with humiliating them but on the form of a message board i wonder if this is the most effective solution as its not face to face!!! Any way lets hope this is over with for another day!!! and get back to talking about the real issues of the day - Gregos first steps in management

I think we all need to put this in perspective,
He was amotionally charged because Chelsea had lost,
He blamed it on the player He ..
well he should not have said it basically
but
he is from a generaration where that word was used and it came out at the wrong time
I think he is genuially remorsed and
no
bugger
cant make a valued arguement really

For quite a while I have thought that Big Ron should have been placed in a field and left to mull his day away with all the other old nags...I now have my wish.
He should not be applauded for last night, but in the late 70's his bringing of the likes of Cunningham, Batson and Regis together should be. Lots of clubs and managers wouldnt give a coloured player a look in, Ron certainly addressed that balance.
Racist he is not...Foolish today he most certainly is.

I wont report the post this time but have logged the details of the ip and it comes back to a company in sheffield
It will be reported without hesitation next time
For those interested I did report Cynical Shrew and here is the reply
Hi Ian
I have contacted this user in regards to this and requested that they cease posting anything offensive or abusing the message board.
I would suggest blocking their IP from the board if this continues as it is a static address.
Kind Regards

I agree - I don't think using the word n****er seems so strange to a man of his years, you have referred to black people as 'coloured' which is also seen offensive to black people .

It may be a generation thing, I cant think of the film, but didn't one of our national heroes, Douglas Bader or someone, have a dog with THAT name?
also, love thy neighbour, a classic British comedy of its day, along with Alf Garnet used the word extensively,
However, what was accepted as part of the everyday language then, cannot be now, and as such, I respect his decision to resign. it was the only thing he could have done.
If he'd said it 30 years ago, it would have been accepted. Today it isn't. Simple as that really.

Agree, it is a generation thing. You used to be able to buy shoes in a shade of brown with THAT name a few years back. Times change but some people don't.
