The only way we'll go anywhere is if we get a chairman with stupid amounts of dosh and then we can do a Rusden and go straight through div3. Intill then Quinn is as good as anyone we won't attract anyone better.

The board's attitude is that they like to see the colour of someone's money - to the tune of £100,000.

I've never rated our board - but this time I'm willing to stick up for them this time.
In Quinn they have an excellent manager - and with Chic alongside him I'm convinced we'll make the play-offs and who knows what will happen then.
I've spoken to Quinn and he seems like a genuine bloke and the signing of Duane Darby was important and shows we're moving in the right direction.
If we can get Jody Banim that would be another good signing.
How we get on over Xmas and into January will be vital. Will we lose Luke? I think we will - Crewe are about to sell Ashton to Wolves.
As for poor treatment of our players - well he's done Jags a massive favour hasn't he?
Maybe he thinks it's time for the others named to move on. I'm not saying they're bad players but they just need a change - for their own sakes.
Having said that I do wonder about the quality of people like Sedgemore ... I would prefer Karl Murray to him but it looks like his face doesn't fit.
You're never going to agree with everything a manager does but Quinn's got plenty of credit in the bank as far as I'm concerned at the moment - and I went on Saturday!

Quite correct Sean, that is what a seat on the board costs for anyone interested, however if £100,000 is a fairly insignificant sum to the person concerned they are decidedly edgy about letting them coming on board, I can only assume they're frightened of those persons taking over lock, stock and barrel

It's just an opinion- and admittedly not a very well informed one- but for what it's worth: I've done my share of moaning- and I was discussing the Tamworth game with Mr W-S (Well, moaning!) and he pointed out that it Chester 3 seasons to begin to get their act together after the drop into the Conference. Also, I was listening to Radio Mrseyside recently on the way home (Rado Shropshire is dodgy in the car) and someone was saying that there are better teams in the Conference than in Div.3 (Which sounds like a contradiction- but, think about it- they're up against other teams who have really got their act together and improved) Last night, I was listening to some Everton moaners (makes a change) and someone said that if you keep changing the team around, they won't gel as a team. Perhaps JQ is panicking a bit- we've all expected a lot of him- "Get us out of the Conference in one season!" Maybe that's why he's making so many changes and letting players go without enough consideration. I don't know. (Don't shoot me down in flames- it's only a thought!) Finally- yes- like Jerseyshrew, I couldn't support any other team. As long as they're around- and I'm around- I'll go on supporting them!) OOPS- I'm almost late for work! Speeding ticket for me if I'm not careful!

Some good points there Wigan shrew- not sure if Quinn is panicking by releasing players though- Jags, Murray, Drysdale and Dunbavin all have ability true, but they have all been given enough time for that ability to be integrated into the current squad and it hasnt- end of story- it's best for them and best for the club I believe.

wiganshrew, you are indeed correct in that it Chester 3 years to get sorted out, but as someone has previously stated, they had serious off-field troubles, they lost some quality players (Moss, Becket and Doughty off the top of my head) and they had their home games boycotted in their first season by unhappy supporters.
We can not be compared to any other club who has been relegated to the conference. This is because we don't have any immediate off field problems (altho' the new ground issue is looking rather worrying) also we have managed to retain our best players, whilst losing most of our worst ones (back four). As well as this our position in the transfer market has actually improved. We can actually outbid second division teams for players because the board were prudent enough not to spend silly money in past seasons. In some respects we are stronger than we have ever been.
As for Big Jim, I have seen enough in Darby to see that when he gets fully match fit, that he will be class. Howie, Tinson and Riddler look quality as does Cramb. O'Connor has a ruputation that I'm sure in time he'll live upto. That is a good spine to the team. We are starting to see the introduction of players such as Dave Edwards as well as the progress of Jamie Tolley and Aiston, all of which are positives. We no longer rely on Luke to score the goals and set them up himself, we are more of a team and less of a one man team.
Too many people criticise the club because it isn't transparent enough. Quinn has come in and been upfront, he has announced that certain players need to move on, and in all fairness Murray, Leon, Jags and Bavo haven't been improving as they should perhaps otherwise have been. Yet the same people who criticise the club for not being transparent are now criticising Quinn for being too honest for letting everyone know the score! make up your mind people.
As we know the club has been in inherent decline for years. It will take more than 3/4 months for a new management team to come in and change the whole ethos of the club. We have already seen that the players train longer and harder than before. We have already seen Quinn clamping down on ill discipline.
Things will come together, but as always it requires time. Yes I have had my fingers burnt by the KR episode, however Quinn has been given TWO YEARS, and should not be judged on 3/4 months. Oh and we are sixth.
As for the tactics. he brought Rioch on in an attempt to stabilise the midfield as Tamworth were in total control. Cramb is a striker not a winger. Perhaps is main mistake was not to swap Rioch and Potter around and have Rioch at left back and Potter in midfield. As for the slightly negative tactics away from home? Lord knows only Big Jim can answer that question.

Spot on Rob. He has a two year contract and so do most of the new signings. We're in 6th with half the season to play. This season obviously would be ideal and is still a possibility. But so is next year. Playoffs is definately a possibility and would anyone really expect to keep pace with Chester's form after the dross of last year. Next year would be the real time to start worrying.
