...Sky are reporting that he's changed his mind and is staying. No link yet, just been on the radio. Strange chap.

That plank who burnt the shirt needs to buy a new one now, thats a weeks dole down the drain. A clear case of wait-till-the-ink-is-dry-on-the-contract-situation.

You never know,Chelsea might have told him to see his contract out at Liverpool and will then pay him 200k a week.

Apparently if Chelsea do sign him in the next few days he is going on a season long loan to Everton.

I reckon it was the thought of linking up with Peter Crouch that changed his mind.

I think what we are seeing here is a hell of alot of tension between Gerrard the fan and Gerrard the professional sportsman wanting to maximise his earning potential (including sponsorship etc). You can imagine what his advisers are telling him and on the other hand he will be having his family telling him, "Steve, we want to be able to continue living in Liverpool."
To stay would be the right decision. And I am sure that is what his heart is telling him.

I don't think anyone knows for sure what was going on in Steve's head but I can understand why he would be a little confused by the whole situation. Liverpool have had a very long time to finalise a contract and it has taken this type of stunt to get them to pull their fingers out. If he doesn't want to stay at Liverpool why sign a 4 year contract to tie him to the club for a further 6 years?
