but I have just witnessed on Telly Police in riot gear knocking seven bells out of those idiots in Edinburgh, and for once thought the Police were in the right These anti globalisation protesters really have lost me, just anarchists spoiling for a fight/vandalism Should maybe have got the water canons out, most of 'em would run a mile from a shower

Not on your own, they got what they wanted, a fight. I also enjoyed the fox hunters getting the same treatment

Agreed all protests should be met with violence unless I agree with their cause (oops!--does that make me a fascist?)

Although the ideals behind these protests may be valid you cannot avoid thinking that they get hijacked by troublemakers. I feel sorry for the people of edinburgh.

No , not on your own at all. I'm all in favour of a bit of police brutality as long as it's properly targeteted . Would love to see a spot of CHAV battering on TV as well - I would probably even buy a DVD of it!

One of the best moments of TV in the last eyar has to be the fox hunters getting a good beating from the police. They can't expect to protest the way they do and not receive it.

Yeah watching the miners getting battered was pretty good too..................................................................NOT I think we have become extraoedinary intolerant of those whether they be political diissdents miners hippies, fox hunters left wing parties etc etc we are about to get a law stopping demonstrations in Westminster anything to make sure our political commisars are protected from every day realities. If you dont worry about civil liberties I do There is no excuse for violence against people and no excuse for police violence either if we get our kicks from watching other people get beaten up may be there is something wrong with us ? and may be, just be may be, when we protest in the future about something others will get their kicks watching others beat us up What a Brave New world we now inhabit What happened to the I disagree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it Belief?

I didn'tmean that i get my kicks out of watching them get beaten up, i realise that's probably how it seems What I meant was that the fox hunters were using violent protests and being, as i see it, quite ignorant, and it was good for them to realise that they can't get away with everything. In their case, the police violence was used justifiably and with good reason, to good effect. I'm all for 'civil liberties', I've been on a few protests etc. myself, but you have to draw the line somewhere, and that should be before you embarass yourself and what you are sticking up for. There are a load of men in government who get paid a shedload for it, and no matter hwat you think of their decisions, they are the ones with all the information etc. I personally think that sticking up for your beliefs should be encouraged, and is a good sign in a person, but not when it goes too far. You should make your point politely but clearly, and accept what the 'opposition' decide to do about it.

Fair enough Tom but if I really believed any governnment knew best int he last 30 years I would doubt my sanity
