Bit unfair-think it would be great to see him come back. Still had yet to realise his potential I think

Not knocking Glyn but question has to be asked - if he wasn't good enough at a host of other clubs at lower league level then why should he be good enough for us. I attended an FA scouting course at The Meadow and a statement was made implying that if a youngster isn't good enough at a larger club then he's not good enough at a smaller club. Your thoughts......

Whats wrong with us signing Glyn? Would people complain if we were signing Howie again? no league club wanted to pick him up, infact only Exeter and us went in for him. There are stacks of keepers out there available and it isnt a certainty Glyn will sign, but it looks like he wants to get his career back on track and he'll know if Joe puts in the performances there will be a shirt for him in the starting X1 here as Joe will be off...nevermind what GP said about 100 league games, up and coming young English goalkeepers are sort after.

I for one will be a very happy chap if Glyn signs for us. He had a variety of reasons why it didnt work out for him in Denmark and as he is still a local lad if he's still got the ability then why not?
I have had dealings with Glyn related to my job over the past six months and he's a terrific young lad who is very modest and likeable and i suppose from that point of you yeah im biased and really want him to sign if he impresses of course!!!!

You jest!

Good luck to him. However, a little caution, because "young" plus "local" does not necessarily equal "good enough".

he's only here on a trial. GP isn't stupid, he knows the history and probably wants to have a look to make his own mind up.
give the lad a chance.

Your thoughts...... FA comment seems strange, Andy Cole wasn't good enough at Arsenal went to Bristol then Newcastle, Man U etc. Not good enough at a big club, went to smaller club then back to bigger clubs. With their thinking no small clubs would sign anyone from larger clubs. FA sums them up at times. In the case of Glyn, I always felt we touted him around with undue haste, (probably for the transfer money), had he had the programme suggested by GP for Hart he may well have had a better chance to develop and have been better prepared for life away from the Meadow. Good luck to him, still young for a keeper with his best days ahead.

The comment made was aimed at players of a much younger age than some of the names mentioned here - I'm not saying it's right or wrong, on a personal level I can't foresee a major problem with the return of Glyn (albeit on trial) as I have complete faith in GP.

Fair comment but I mentioned Andy Cole because he was first with Arsenal as a schoolboy - like you I have faith in GP's judgement. Not questioning you at all but feel that to make a statement as the FA made is a bit unreal.

The comment made was aimed at players of a much younger age than some of the names mentioned here That's the way I interpreted it, and to be fair there is a heck of a lot of evidence that way. As for Glyn, I realise he's on trial but would be very surprised if we were to sign someone with such limited League experience and whose record is so poor. I would have though we would be looking for a 34+ keeper who has a reliable record but is not at the height of their powers (Edwards in 98/99 onwards would have been an excellent 2nd choice keeper).

Is this good psychology by GP? Have Glyn around a an example to Joe of what can happen if you believe the hype and leave for the bright lights before you have learned your trade.

Dave Im almost certain Glyn was sold first time around purely because we needed the money there and then. Dont forget it was in the cheap Jake King time.

We certainly did.
But Dave's point is equally valid. How to go from a hot prospect to a non leaguer in just a few years.
THe difference with Joe so far is that he has proved that he can make the step up to the first team for a few matches effortlessly. Let's hope he can now do it for a whole season.

Or we could sell Joe now for about the same amount & see him go the same route as Glyn because he didn't have a manager that knows that only first team experience & training counts to take you up the leagues onto the pitch or bench at worst.

Bit harsh on Glyn.
He made what one first team appearence for us, and was then sold to Fulham, who at the time had a couple of keepers (was crossely one?) including maik Taylor, before splashing the cash to bring in Van de Sarr. Its little wonder he didnt make the grade at Fulham, and as he got older he probably became less desirable to lower league clubs due to the lack of sustained first team football.
Catch 22.

Also unsuccessful spells at Mansfield, Chesterfield and Northampton.
