Just got back from working at the trafalgar 200 celebrations down in portsmouth. And iwas quite simply shocked by the lax security on a site with a great number of important ships from the navys around the world, aswell as visiting members of royal families. The public bags were put through a bag scanner, but the public themselves were rarely searched, exhibitors vans and exhibitors were searched on the first day, though not thoroughly, every other day they went straigh on site with no problems. This is pretty shocking when security is meantto be at a high in todays world with terrorism so rife.

visiting New York earlier in the year was different. most tourist attractions had 3 different search points, including having to take off coats, no bags allowed etc.
they seemed to have it sussed, and while it was a slight detraction, I heard a lot less moaning than I would have expected. but after all, it was in the US of A.
