id love him to come back cause not one of you would ever say anything to his face. He may have made mistakes last time on and off the field but he doesn't deserve to be labelled a clown by the likes of you lot.
alot of you need to take hard long looks at yourselves beofre u even begin to worry about bavos downfalls

ouch! lol he doesnt deserve 2 be labelled a clown-very true...u can say wot u want- but if asked no 1 wud tell him to his face wot they really think. and if he did come back, and as soon as gp said " bavos good hes done this that and the other" u'll be up his arse quicker than a rat up a drainpipe!

Bavo was Div Three's version of David James. Great shot stopper but was not confident collecting crosses or in the air. His kicking was also a bit dodgy. But then again, with Fatty Redmile in front of him, it's hardly surprising he conceded a few goals. Nothing personal but I think we can do better and I hope this is just a rumour.

bav wouldn't be that bad an addition to the squad. fantastic shot stopper, has some dodgy elements but we're talking about a No 2 Div 2 keeper here folks, there maybe some better keepers for town out there, there are also some who are alot worse.

It's not April 1 is it. Dunflapping is yesterday's man. He's a liability on crosses and corners and I'm still haunted by that blunder at Bournemouth in the relegation season. There are plenty of others out there. Is this all about Mark Cartwright bigging up his clients again?

u base his immaturity on what exactly? I base it on the fact that he acted immaturely a lot of the time. I once saw a supporter try to ask him a serious question when he was warming up before a game and all Bavo did was bark at him pretending to be a dog. Good enough reason?

i can see why you think hes immature- but do you just block out all the times when he mucks about with the kids, and makes their day. his a dad for god sake, cant be that immature!

Without question,IMO,the worst goalkeeper(no thats unfair to goalkeepers)player, to pull on a goalkeeping jersey and represent STFC between the posts, since I've been going........40 seasons now.
Best joke thread of the year to date though.........

he always played in front of some terrible defences too. He was always pretty young and was still learning the game often in front of a woeful defence. There's a pattern here that might explain things.... perhaps he should have been behind the defence instead.... ;D

Ah, a candidate for most ironic and stupid post of the year award - someone who says we, as internet users, wouldn't have the b******s to say what we think to someone's face in person and yet they post as a guest - on an internet forum! Priceless! Tell you what, come along and introduce yourself to me one day and tell me what you think and maybe then I'll give you some credibility.
As for Bavo - maybe GP could harness what ability he has but I personally don't want him back. Plus, as GP seems reluctant to sign outfield players under 6 foot tall I don't see why he'd consider bringing in a goalkeeper who is.

Don't think you're in a position to criticise a lack of evidence Mrs Tolley... the example given about Bavo is one more to back up a point of view than you ever have offered on your dislike of Gary Peters....

NO THANK YOU !! BAVO IS A VAMPIRE -- He's afraid of crosses !! As soon as the opposition sussed this out we were going to be subjected to cross after cross after cross. Not a bad shot stopper, but a flapper at anything crossed into the box.

bavo has his faults in his game- thats true. but like i said, i dont see what harm it woud do in him being on the bench. would prefer him than someone who is untested with no proper league and first team experience. either way-i doubt bavo is even coming back so its all a bit of a pointless thread

I know for a fact, that, just like myself, Gary does NOT like his keepers to punch. Please NOOOOOOO! I read an article by Bob Wilson a couple of weeks ago in which he said the new lightweight ball made all 'keepers look daft at times and it was now impossible for any 'keeper to achieve the perfection of people like Jennings, Banks etc. He reckoned that 'keepers had to punch as the flight of the ball was so unreliable and was responsible for most of the recent goalie howlers.

I'd personally say that punching a ball is a cause of more howlers than catching.
As for Bavo, I never had a problem with him, but the chances of him coming back are less than minimal.

He was beaten by the Zola lob/shot/whatever you like to call it, mainly because his positioning was poor. He may have retrieved that situation, had he been taller, but that is one fault that he cannot correct. Yes there are instances when a keeper HAS to punch, but I was always told that if you can get two hands to the ball, you should catch it. Most of the keepers in our league have no problem doing this, new ball or not. As for telling the guy to his face my opinion of his performances, if he asked my opinion, I'd have no trouble telling him, because that is just what it would be, my opinion. Also, I'm bigger than him.

i didn't particuarly rate him as a keeper, not the worst i've seen at the meadow but certainly wouldn't want him back, especially for off field reasons
i want hart to develop as much as he possibly can, as would peters, and certainly don't want bad influences misleading him.
