It'll never happen, he made too many mistakes in the conference last season. GP will look to bring in a young keeper i think that will challenge hart as the season goes on.

My god some of you have short memories. Strange how peoples perceptions of a player become more extreme with the passing of time. Sure he made some mistakes - but he was generally a sound keeper. I recall he played well in the games against Everton & Chelsea.
In my opinion he would be a welcome addition to the squad

i always thought that he had a lot of potential. how old is he? 24 , 25 ? still time for him to make good. he always played in front of some terrible defences too. yes, he's a bit short but he can overcome that if he can use a punch effectively. i thought he was a tremendous shot-stopper in spite of a few gaffs that all keepers make. good luck bavo!

strange one this - despite his sometimes calamitous performances I think we could do a lot worse. He was always pretty young and was still learning the game often in front of a woeful defence. I'd welcome him back and be happy to give him a second chance.

Were talking about wa player who in all intense and purposes would come to sit on the bench for 99% of games and make do with League reserve football
Does anyone think that if he had 4-5 games next season it would really effect the town, bit of a character something we might need, knows the club and fans
If it was as a first team keeper big no
To sit on the bench, keep joe honest and the like I say
Why not!!!

Obviously starting out at Liverpool he must have had potential - but it is all about what people do with it.
He always struck me as a keeper prone to do stupid things (we all saw the comedy goal against Halifax last season) - not down to a lack of ability but down to a lack of maturity - he always seemed to want to be the cheeky joker of the pack out for a laugh - one of the lads.
I believe it is harder to change personality characteristics than it is to improve / gain new skills. Having said that all the other lads that would have egged him on have now gone so perhaps a more professional outlook at the club would help him.

I know for a fact, that, just like myself, Gary does NOT like his keepers to punch. Please NOOOOOOO!

i see no reason why it wouldnt be good for him to come back im sure he'd jump at the chance would be a good addition the squad in my opinion. like pricey says, if he did come he would be on the bench for most of the season any way, and to be honest, how is his bench presence gonna effect our performances. and when he plays- he does have tendancy to play well. we dont really know wot hes like these days, but he may have improved ( carlisle incident aside of course ) but id much rather have bavo on the bench than some untested 17 year olf golakeeper (joes one in a million at this level, lets face it bring back bavo!!!!

Stitch was a popular player when he left the club, and he made us some tidy money too. I also remember the general consensus being that we had signed a decent (if injury prone) player. It doesn't sound as though a Bavo return would be quite as welcome...

For me , an experienced solid keeper as back up to Joe, some one who is maybe nearing the end of his league career, who Joe can also continue to learn off. The biggest problem as we found with Scott is getting a keeper who is prepared to play back up, although I have a thought in the back of my mind that a younger lad from Sheffield was available, let go up there, just cant remember his name...... I will keep trying

Allth ose people that don't want him back are going to be VERY unhappy cause he is virtually already here.
Peters believes that with his guidance he can help Bavo achieve what he is more than capable of.

. It doesn't sound as though a Bavo return would be quite as welcome... but is that for footballing reasons ? there is no reason why bavo could not teach joe things- hes older than him, hes had a fair bit of experience with us, halifax and of course in his younger days at lfc. bavo was more popular at the club than what people thinku know!

Bavo would be a step back IMO.
I can't see how he'd teach Joe anything - hardly got the personality or maturity to pass on experience IMO.

"but is that for footballing reasons ?"
Yes. I don't care for what he may or may not have said / done off the pitch. All I care about is performances and Bavo made way too many mistakes.

In my opinion he would be a welcome addition to the squad well apart from a poor kick that led to evertons goal and being out of position and getting lobbed by zola BRING BACK BAVO i don't have anyone that i want to go at the mo ;D

yeah, i guess on balance, we'd be better off with an 'old head'. there must be lots in their mid 30s or older who would play on a short contract and advise joe.

Another point
Why is it some have said
"oh wish we still had Cramb - gary could have turned him into a great player"
Yet dont think he could with a genuinly talented but misguided, lacking concentration and maturity Bavo
Just a though!!

I've nosed round all the Shaymens message boards and the only thing about Bavo & thier new keeper is they expect him to keep his place as No 1. If he were to come back then he would have a lot to prove on and off the field.
