Vaughan CCFC's chairman has been reported as having £20m available for him to buy a major holding in Everton, if this is the case £100k to pay for Blundell for his present club is chicken feed. What is interesting is what he will do with his CCFC interests if he buys into Everton, will it be held by someone else in name only or will he leave and expect his reported £4m investment back ? I hope not the latter, you say you hate them but I would hate to see another local rival running into further troubles of a financial and potentially club threatening nature.

Dont hate Chester but dont envy them either If (some would say when) Vaughn leaves they are in very serious trouble . I honestly would rather do things the way GP says he wants to, than have a rich sugar daddy who could walk on a whim

Even if they do have the money I can't really see why he would want to sign for Chester - the money might be good but would he want to join a club that finished in the bottom 6 of Division 2 last season and has touble getting 3,000 fans each week. I think we may have trouble getting players in for the same reason, although by all accounts we arn't going to be spending £100,000 on a player during the summer.

he's 29 and his previous club were Northwich. Chester are offering 100K which means he'll probably get a decent signing on fee, and decent lengh contract on good money.
One last big payday, whilst possibly setting him up for the next 5/6 years as league 2 marksmen, especially if he continues with a half decent strike rate

At 29 he's probably at the peak of his career, I I wouldn't have thought chester would be his best option

It is a very good signing for them but I just cannot see how the figures add up
Unsustainable financial positions are fun while it lasts but alwaysgo pear shaped
We had wrexham fans going mad at lee Jones last minute winner but thye were players the club could not afford and they may yet pay for it with their existence
We had Telford fans singing "there's only one team in shropshire" at us when they beat us but they were players they could not afford and they paid for it with their club
My fear is that one day the same will happen at Chester, because although Vaughan is ambitious and generous he is also not stupid and I am far from convinced they can put together everything they need for long term financial stability
Clubs like Lincoln have been patient and have built on true foundations.

I too feel that Chester could be still be at risk, take our nutty board anytime

bit divided on this
proven scorer at this level, but as you say, £100k for a 29 year old!?!?!?
one day we are broke, next we are offering £100k for 1 player - doesnt make sense to us either. Would much rather get a few frees (must be loads around) and use that money for sigining on fees etc. However as SV is best of friends with the Donny chairman, I doubt will be paying anywhere near £100k up front
Whether or not this actually comes off though is another thing - over the months we have been linked with just about every player going
However, He is a local lad and wants to return closer to home and play first team football (which we will offer)
If he does sign then with him, Branch and Lowe, it looks a lot better than this season
