It'd be intresting to see how he did back at a club with little in terms of transfer fees. At Salop he had a huge comparative budget and, in my opinion, signed players 'because he could'. At Northwich it was a totally different story. Good luck Jimmy, you jammy git

"I know what it takes to get a team promoted..." Yes Jimmy, a couple of penalty shoot-outs. ;D So I take it you objected to the manner of our promotion then

So I take it you objected to the manner of our promotion then Well he hardly got us promoted through playing good football, scoring lots of goals, and getting us promoted through the normal route of automatic promotion or even promotion via open play in the play offs.

well Hereford neither didnt get romoted and they played lovely free flowing silky football. What matters is that he us up, and for that he'll be remembered as a sucess

Ratcliffe perhaps, not much competition there was there really. The team we had in the comference could have easily got into the position they were in for the playoffs without Quinn even being here. No leadership, no motivational skills, training fiasco's. Hope he gets the job at forest green, cos that will be about his level!

So when Carlisle beat us you went home saying I only want to come back up if we play good football, score lots of goals and qualify automatically ? I don't think so I am sure Forest Green fans will be delighted if they are promoted via a penalty shoot out

His remit when he arrived, was promotion within 2 years. It was not a stipulation that this must be automatic promotion, no penalties. He achieved this in half the time allowed. Yes, he may have been lucky, but which successful managers aren't? He was certainly no worse than King, and yes, the side we had should have been capable of gaining promotion without his "leadership", but, just remind me, who assembled that side?

But how many of those players would have been at the club if Quinny had not have signed them himself?

Quinn will always be remembered for getting us promoted from the conference at the first attempt.
Having said that with the resources he had and the quality of the conference opposition we should have done much better. I also think his training methods effected a lot of the younger players, most notiably Rodgers whose value has gone down as a result of Quinn being our manager. The squad he put together simply weren't good enough to have kept us in the league this year, and all the "pay offs" are still hampering Peter's attempts to build a squad for next season.
Are Forest Green part or full time. I think Quinn will do ok there, but I can't see doing that well.

The team of 2003/4 had a much better chance of getting promoted than the one of 2004/5, even under Gary P, in my opinion. Similar defences but we had 3 goalscorers who all hit form when we needed them. Last year we had none. Good old Jimmy

We just missed Mark Atkins in midfield really, it's plainly obvious. Nobody can doubt that mans title winning credentials. The player that Tolley, Sedge or O'Connor could only dream of being.
;D
