What happens if the docs say he should retire? Can we cancel his contract? Im not sure if im being pessimistic or optomistic with the above scenario

I'd fully expect the club to have him insured. Thus we'd receive an insurance pay-out to pay him up or something like that.
Any chance we'd get another insurance pay-out to recoup the transfer fee?

If he retired, would the club pay his contract off using insurance money?
If Duane's getting good money for sitting on his arse he won't do us any favours (I don't mean that in a bad way) but he has a secured income for another year rather than putting his hands and saying 'I give up' and save STFC X thousands of pounds and thus, making himself less money.
