we have regional meetings once a quarter at WBA football ground and I love going there ;D But that is because they finish at 4, and I stop at every tram stop between the Hawthorns and Wolverhampton Terminus for a pint before catching the last train home

Used to do Mid Wales to Manchester on an almost daily basis. Normally 1 hour 15 min drive but on bad days could be 2 hours each way. Now in Shrewsbury and the max has been a 35 min drive for 14 miles

I used to travel Shrewsbury to Birmingham every day, just off Jn 8 M6, then i worked in Wrexham, then Cardiff, travelling each day from Shrewsbury
I now have a 40 mile each way journey to Bristol every day, with many site visits along the way, Im doing an average of 1000 miles a week.

Working in Huddersfield for a year. 98 miles and leave the house at 6 am, sometimes it takes 3 hours. First 50 odd miles to the M56 stuck behind wagons and crap drivers, then getting off the M6 onto the 62 is a nightmare. Coming back one night 5 hours when the A49 was closed completely and everywhere got gridlocked. Used to work in Redditch too, another shyte journey 3 hours round trip some days. Should get a job in B&Q maybe.

Tenbury to Hereford usually takes just about an hour each way-bout 30/40mins of which is spent in traffic Hereford seriously needs a by-pass. Big town with the A49 going right through the town centre over one bl00dy bridge!

Not a long drive- but when I used to work in Liverpool (I left at Christmas) I used to drive down the M57 and the Knowsley Expressway.
One evening yobs were lobbing bricks off a bridge and one hit the car in front- scarey!!!!!!
I only have to drive 7 miles now- but Haydock Island where the East Lancs meets the M6 is not much fun.
You get people cutting you up because they've got into the wrong lane and swop at the last moment.

At the moment I have to take a taxi ride across Bangkok.
Leave before 7am it takes 15 minutes. Leave after 7am it can take 1 hour.
Or you can take a motorbike taxi but you might die...

Im with Harmerhill on this one, i cant understand people who go in for these long commutes every day, the strain and stress of it all. Plus the fact that its a waste of time just sitting in a car listening to some cheesy radio presenter.
I view my current 5/10 minute car joureny to work excessive, mind you thats based on my last job where my journey from my bed to the desk in the office was a 3 minute walk.

not strictly a drive, but my commute involves an hour long ride in a classic london routemaster (ie open platform) bus, right through the middle of our capital from hackney to piccadilly (route 38). takes an hour to go about 5 miles but you can't beat it. " hold very tight please" *ting ting* sad news though, these old buses are being retired before their time to be replaced by monstrous bendy buses (boo hiss). www.savetheroutemaster.com

I agree my drive to Huddersfield is a pain and excessive and some mornings I feel like shyte when I arrive at work, problem is it's a project I just have to do. I don't do it everyday and the day's I don't my commute is down the stairs, bedroom to office at the side of the house.. Get up at 8 and at work by 8:15, so it's not all bad.

It's all about opinions and getting the balance correct Gallon. For example your job would prob be excessively annoying to me

Love the way in the taxis the meter slows down when your in a traffic jam but then speeds up when your tanking it..genius! Spent about an hour in a taxi getting to Siam one night and still only cost about 150bht!

If its a 10 minute journey in the car you should walk that as well. To be honest it is worth traveling 1 to 1and a half hours to and from work when the money can often be twice as much. Companies in Shropshire are poor payers and I know many who commute further for that very reason.
