Have the Town ever actually played on the continent? I guess we've not been over here for any competitive games and I'm sure we've played one or more games against European opposition at the Meadow but have we ever played in any friendly games over here? Is Ireland and Scotland the furthest we've ever travelled?
Is the supporters trip to Spain the first time Shrewsbury Town FC is to be represented in Europe?

I have a vague recollection of a pre-season tour to Denmark or somewhere like that.
But can't remember when (80s sometime?) and could be talking b@ll@x.
Other than that.....does Scotland count as the continent??

The Holland trip was maybe 1996? Did we beat Heerenveen 4-3?

I think ours might be the first 'competitive' time a town side has played in Europe!!!

Town played a friendly in Malta at the end of 78/79 season. I have a programme somewhere. The furthest I have been to see them is Scotland + Ireland. The Town away supporters played in weekend tournaments in Paris in the 1980's, and very good fun they were too

In return FC Seolto were told by the club they could have a friendly. At first it was going to be against the first team, then it was against the youth team - and then, when the club realised the youths already had a game on the weekend the lads from FC Seolto were coming to Shrewsbury they ended up playing, yes you guessed it, the ASFC. They promptly won 10-1 against an ASFC side who had Tony Henry and Steve Biggins in their side for the day.
