Question...when a player shouts 'my ball' or 'leave it' or sommat along the same lines without identifying himself (as in, it should be sommat like 'Perkers ball' or sommat)...is this a foul? I think yes and a free kick should be given. Is this in the rules of the game? Does it come down ungentlemanly conduct and therefore how the ref see it? Or is this allowed in the game?
I've always thought this isn't allowed, simple as...is that right? Hows do you see it?

I dont think it is, however when i sued to play football, unless we identified ourselves when calling for the ball in training matches we'd always give a fould away. being the keeper it was a bit of a pain in the arse

I think it's if the ref sees it as seeking to gain an unfair advantage - i.e. an opposition player leaves it - then a foul and yellow card for unsporting conduct would be warrented...

You have to "put a name on it" A call of my ball even to your own team mate is a foul, but one rarley picked up on!!! (Thank god! )

indirect free-kick is the decision i've always given.

I've never seen a foul given for it, and I tend to shout 'leave it' rather than 'Peters' as 'Peters' sounds too much like 'keepers' and just causes confusion.

I remember Roberto Baggio shouting "leave it" (or the Italian equivalent) a few years ago. The opposition defender ducked, and Baggio headed the ball into the net for a goal. Naughty naughty!

I was under the impression it was a free kick and should be a booking?

I had a similar discussion with a certain Mr Dunn during the ASFC/ B & A match recently. It is a foul and it is broadly covered by the ungentlemanly conduct ruling. At a local level, even if nobody actually 'leaves it' because you shouted it, a foul is normally given. Put a name on it- even if you miss it you may put off the opposition

Yup I'm sure Mystics dad can vouch for this as he's pulled me up on at least twice this season. Never did it on purpose, but "get out of the bloody way" is a bit too much of a mouthfull

I'm 99% certain it is a rule and I have blown up for it when reffing. Punishable by indirect free kick and I suppose could warrant a yellow card for unsporting conduct if shouted to a member of the opposition team to gain an unfair advantage.
Incidentally, I was told that although it is a free kick to the other side for shouting "my ball" or "leave it", it is perfectly ok to shout "over" to a team mate meaning "let it run"
Knowledge is the bomb ;D

Yeh, defo against the rules. I got pulled up earlier in the season for saying 'dummy'. It's something I do when, unsurprisingly, I want one of my team mates to dummy the ball so it roles through to me. Evidently some refs think this is against the rules too - although if I shout 'Dummy's' in the future I guess they can't do a thing
