Just a note regarding the 12A rating that Star Wars has been given, it is truely justified and I would fully agree with the reccomendation that it is not suitable for the under 8's
I was aware before I saw it of the scenes that are expected to cause upset for the younger viewer and I was still quite shocked at how graphic they were
I definitely suggest any parent to see it before taking little ones or atleast gauge reactions from friends and family first
I'll let you know what public reaction we get tomorow
Generally I thought It was the best of the 3 (I havent seen 4,5 & 6 yet) weak in places but then it was never going to get any best actor oscars etc it definitely fulfilled my enjoyment expectations

The original Star Wars trilogy from the 70's/80's the classic ones with harrison ford, mark hamill etc... were episodes 4, 5 & 6 in a six part story.
The 'new' films released over the past 4 years were the prequels to those classic 3 films i.e. Episodes 1,2, and now 3 which is about to open...
Hope that makes sense!

As much as I've enjoyed parts 1 and 2 they're not a patch on Star Wars, Empire and Return. I envy you, would love to see them first time round again...if that makes sense...

I've already seen it ;D
went to the 10:45am showing as I'm not working today. Now maybe I'll have to see it again. Do you always get to see things early jules? I'd have thought you'd not be allowed to break any seal on it until midnight on day of release for such a big release like this.

Every film is delivered in sections of approx 20 mins long which we have to put together hence every film has to be watched through before it goes onto the public to make sure that it is ok technically
It has been known for reels to be put together backwards/upside down, reels from foreign copies to have been included or reels to be missing completely. I went to see Red Dragon at the Odeon in Jersey and the last reel (6) hadnt been delivered but they did have two copies of reel 5

It's a spectacular film.
But the script is crap.

<spoiler free>
the day off yesterday to go see it at the 10am showing ;D
Watched I and II at home beforehand, then IV V, VI and the two Ewok films (yes, I bought them. I am sad and proud of it!) once we came back from III. As a part of the story it slotted in nearly perfectly, just a couple of issues that weren't resolved.
Make no mistakes about it - it's an action movie. All that cr@p about trade routes and a love story is thrown out the window for some good old fashioned fighting - and it worked. Ignore the script - as Murray says, it's cr@p - and immerse yourself in the whole grandeur of it all.
It's no Empire. Heck, it's no Jedi. But as a conclusion to the prequels it's nearly perfect. Spotted a few scenes cut out of it that were in the comic adaptation but it didn't hurt the story. Overall, I'd say 3.5/5.
