Lenin is pleased with this game at the moment. Zhirkov grabbing the 2nd goal. Can CSKA win the cup for Lenin?

"CSKA Moscow become the first-ever Russian winners of a major European trophy after a magnificent second half performance."
Lenin is in celebration mode. Where's the "Congratulations CSKA" comments?

Well done the Russian lads!!!! Glad Sporting lost! I hate their keeper Ricardo. A Class-A clown and a s**te keeper too!

Have just got in from the pub and feeling semi-confused/half-cut.
Had always worried that no other eastern European club would ever win a European trophy again, but now one's won one courtesy of Abramovich's money...let's just say I'd prefer it if Sporting had done the biz - it's not like Portugal's an economic beast and their fans were good as gold last summer...

This could be the first of many russian "surprises" over the next few years.
The clubs are seriously backed by money (noone is sure of its origins) and they've started buying decent players (beat some italian clubs to this brazilian lad) and spent some decent money on some porto players.

spent some decent money on some porto players. Dynamo Moscow spent 16 million euros on Maniche and 4 million on Costinha. Good price for Maniche though not sure on Costinha.

There is an artical in 442 this month about how Russian football is about to take off - theres even an english manager out there at one of the top league clubs!
