Has anyone ever heard of a student changing university at the end of their second year course to finish their degree elsewhere?

Well, I was at Stafford University and it was a 4 year course. The 3rd year was an work placement year. During the 2nd year we were supposed to get fixed up with work placements. I didn't bother and by the start of September I only had a month in which to get fixed up. My mother happened to know the head of IT at Lampeter University and she mentioned to him that I hadn't be bothered to sort myself out with a work placement. He sent me some brochures and gave me a phone call offering me to go to Lampeter Uni. Who said sitting back and doing nothing would get you nowhere?

i did that too - you just have to approach the uni you want to go too, ask them if they have any final year spaces, then get a transfer form from your current universities registry - youll need signatures of course leaders, but providing the course is the same and you can carry the credits over, its a pretty smooth process

Ah yes, forgot to say your best course of action would be to ring up the admissons department of the Uni you are thinking of joining. I never once mentioned to Stafford Uni that I had quit. All my delaings were with Lampeter. Staffs were still sending me mail over 6 months later!

lol
so at lampeter you did the same course that you were doing at stafford, just without year out?
What about the modules? and the points you'd already earned towards your degree?

It was the same course, but instead of it being a BSC qualification it turned into a BA. Very confusing considering it was an IT course! I did manage to skip the work placement and my 4 year course became 3 ;D Both Unis had a similar way of conducting their courses - 12 modules spread over a year. I also managed to take a marketing module in both the 2nd and 3rd years. I got a better result the second time round

hate reading. I put down reading on my ucas form because i couldnt apply to any of the unis i wanted to go to. So put reading down because i had no chance of getting the grades. Unfortunatly I got the grades to get in and thus had to take up my place. Have bumbled along for a couple of years now, and am unhappy with the quality of the university, have had problems adjusting (probably partly my fault) and now my best mate has just upped sticks and moved to kent, added to the fact i hate my house and have to look for a new house anyway, and i've also been quite depressed on and off. I've given Reading a go, and now hopefully its time for me to move on and hopefully finish my degree somewhere I actually want to be. But I wont hold my breath On the contray Dave there is a very good church in reading centre, which is very youth/student orientated as well as catoring for families on a sunday evening. Its normally packed out, does cracking refreshments and also puts on live Christian punk/indie music just seen what you were alluding too- erm how can i put it, his views on Christianity come from a different century, and we certanly dont share the same ideas

It is where christendom meets Costa coffee! And oh yeah, it had 250 members in 1999 and now there are 800
