bit different to jimmy quinns run round the pitch twice, tackle a traffic cone, then we`ll talk about how your backswing improves your game style of training

No promotion..... Due to lack of experience? No play-offs........ Due to lack of experience? Relegation dog fight........ Due to lack of experience I hope the latter doesn't come into force, but surely if we're not going to be good enough for the top spot or playoffs that leaves mediochre mid table or relegation battle again I apologise for the negative responce, I just hope we don't have to go 2 steps back before we can go forward (5 year plan)

I find the whole thing very encouraging personally. It sounds like we have a fully competant backstage staff, and I think anyone who expected playoff based miracles next year was probably dreaming anyway. I'd be more than happy with mid-table mediocrity next season if it meant a sustained challenge for promotion the following year. Our future is in very good hands

If the club is going to have a five year plan for on the field it needs to have one off the field - where's that going to come from?

if it takes another season in a dog fight so be it, as fans we should be well used to that lol, i like this youth policy it worked well at yeovil, i remember asking Quinny a Question about youth, he didnt impress me with his answer or his ability. i think GP will do very well for Town, lets give him the season he has asked for then see whay has happened by this time next season , personally id luv to be mid table and i think we will be.
lets wait and see, go for it GP youth is the way to go.
cheers chris

hmmmm..... Cambridge Utd - in administration Kidderminster H - no money; very poor side Rushden and Diamonique - no money and in free fall Shrewsbury T - ? Chester C - team in chaos; 3 managers; Ryan Lowe getting them 9 points. Notts County - heavily in debt and in crisis Bury - massively in debt and in crisis. GP needs to get it right next season. With what was around us last season we should have done far better. If we improve, he'll have the fans support. If we don't........

At the beginning of this last season I was not alone in hoping for a mid table finish after our escape from the Conference. So we had a poor squad and we suffered relegation nerves all season. Now GP has the opportunity to clear the decks and build a side for the future. So my expectations for next season are the same. Mid table will be fine. The only difference is that this time I believe it may be achievable

I am very confident Gary knows what he is doing. He must be very confident as this is the first proper job offer he has applied for and accepted.

I think this is superb. I am tired of dreaming about wonderful achievements and then ending up desperately disappointed. A strong dose of realism will do us all good. Good luck GP

Egwel - I hope I have the right man - just like to say thanks for the music at the games. Nearly always excellent, felt like asking what one or two were, but always forget later. But what was going on before the scunny game - broadcasting all sorts of random crowd noise, I think

Amazing the swing in opinions on this interview with GP.
The believers is GP say 'GP planning for the future, youth given a chance' etc
Those negatively just use 'NO PROMOTION FOR SALOP NEXT SEASON'
Now which one did the Shropshire Star use?...

I believed what JQ had to say.
I believed what Jake had to say.
I was very sceptical of what KR had to say and did at the begining. However the improvements won me round.
I will be expecting signs of improvement. I will also be expecting a lower midtable finish at the very least (a cup run of sorts would be nice).
Some decent football would be nice, but i wont hold my breath.

GP doesn't need to get it right, he HAS to get it right. Mind you, if he doesn't then he won't have the support of the fans and he will walk. So, no criticism from us lot if we lose the odd game or three.

So, no criticism from us lot if we lose the odd game or three. well why not? hes come in to achieve success with us, and surely we will have reason to moan if we "lose the odd game or three". i certainly will moan a bit if we start losing games when we could at least get a draw! and if he walks, well i woud say we would get something back, but we wouldnt get anything.! lol he says we have ambition etc etc, by saying " im aiming for midtable" that lacks ambition, and have a horrible feeling the players could well rest or their laurells knowing that the gaffer is only aiming for midtable!!!

I think Peters is being realistic by aiming for a mid-table finish.
If you were predicted a F in an exam would you aim for an A or for a passing c grade? Once you've obtained the C level than you can progress onto A.

Not such a clever statement for marketing purposes though.
Season ticket sales won't go through the roof if fans think they are going to be served up another season of struggling.
Peters is being realistic with his prediction and trying to keep the pressure off his "babies" on the pitch.
But it doesn't really inspire the "floating" supporter to get down the Meadow.

Very true, but then if Salop start the season well then they'll be the surprise factor which may attract even more fans down
