what are you talking about? they havent won a title for 2 years Think Rob might be suggesting they could challenge Chelsea now with money-bags Glazer's money if he buys a few big names over the summer. Just means people (not me!) will hate Man U more than they already do...

i thought that if he bought the club that it put the club into BIG debt? or did i understand the situation wrongly, i thought he was taking massive loans to buy the club

what with the AFC in the subject, I thought Rob was making a reference to this perhaps signalling the end of united's domination

Watch out for them being renamed the Salford Red Sox. Or what about Glazer moving the "franchise" to where all their supporters are? The Home Counties Buccaneers, perhaps.

Glazier will put united in £300 million in debt, then raise ticket prices and make profit the key issue in order to service the debts. This can only be bad for fans and football in general. The AFC United reference is to the club united fans will now set up ala the wimbledon situation. i for one have watched my last game at OT if he takes over, bought my last programme, my last pie and deffo my last ever product of any of the clubs sponsors... he is a parasite who must be stopped at all costs.

Dulwich Srew, you won't be laughing when he negotiates a seperate tv contract for united and the money dries up for clubs like shrewsbury. this is the beginning of the end for 4 professional divisions in english football...

'Clubs like Shrewsbury' get jack all TV money these days anyway. It's clubs like Brimingham, Blackburn, Villa and other premiership also rans who have most to fear...

Indeed i was making a reference to united fans saying they would start up a new team, with Ole Gunnar Solskjar (sp?) and eric cantana at the head of the club with 20,000 united fans signed up.
As for the premiers**te interesting, this is in reference to his promise to stomp up upto £30mill for buying players.
As well as watching him fight the rest of the premiers**te in their attempt to get the EU ruling passed about individual rights.
United fan (head of shareholders united thing) on the radio, stating united dont need him, erm thats not the point mate. A lot of people/companies have bought united shares to make money as an investment, looks like their investment may come to fruition.
Its a shame about the Irish dudes, i wonder if they'd still have sold up if they hadnt been terrorised by united fans within the last year???

No, but many premiership clubs (in fact all but the top 3 or 4) are almost totally reliant on the inflated TV revenue streams that they have got used to since Murdoch started pumping cash into the premiership and have increased their costs (mainly wages) accordingly.
Clubs like Shrewsbury do not have that level of dependency on tv money. That is the point I was trying to make.

thats what happens to PLC's shareholders make profits and then cash in even more to the next highest bidder, mancscum fans knew this when they floated on the stock markets but didnt grummble then.

Perhaps I am missing the point, I am trying to be pragmatic about this but Man Utd are where they are due to the previous actions of its shareholders.
When you float a Company etc you join a different ball game, seems that they were all happy when it was going well and now theres a new leader of unknown UK qualities suddenly fans are moaning how unfair it all is ?
I didn't notice too many protests when the Irish gentlemen were purchasing huge shares, perhaps because they were Fergies best mates ?
The point is this Manchester united set in motion this course of action and no one else !

The club was bought up by Louis Edwards throughout the 60s, employing private detcitives to hunt down all the individual shares that had been handed to people/or passed down through families.
During the late 70s, he wanted to make money from his shares, but the divident was capped. So he did a share issue and multiplied his share holding by however many, thus increasing the dividend to would recieve.
Then come the early 90s, Edwards had already tried to cash in his shares to Knighton (backed by big money), stumbled across the stockmarket and sold large quanaties of shares.
I've put it very simplistically, but as you can see its not as if united fans had much of a say in the matter.

I'm firmly with Alti on this one. Mock all you want with really helpful terms such as "mancscum" etc, but ultimately this is a sad day for english football in general.
The implications for our entire game are massive. And please, please don't trot out that old worn out stance of "they didn't moan when thing were going well"
Before jumping on the accelerating bandwagon check the facts. When United first floated on the stock exchange rank and file fans opposed it vehemently, predicting just such a scenario.
I really hope the the very well organised and committed fan base now go on to form F.C United and reclaim the traditions of a fine football club.
All power to them. I hope Glazier rots in hell.

Man U and their fans couldnt give a frick about them as they had the Premier league to fall back on. Its a shame for them but que sera sera
