Just heard on the radio that Lee Carter is to be given freedom of the Borough of Telford and Wrekin in recognition of his work to establish AFC Telford United. What does the freedom of Telford and Wrekin Borough confer though? The right to pinch as many car hub-caps as you want?

Ability to drive round roundabouts the wrong way. Sell drugs and not be nicked. Be even more envious that your not a sewer rat. Funnt talking to an AFC fan at college. Couldnt stop going on about our two defeats against them. I let him go so far before coming out with the gullotine motion. 'But you went bankrupt!'. Reality returned!!!

Surely Shakey has been given the same honour? Radio Salop just mentioned Lee. I'm sure he'll treat the honour as a recognition for everyone involved.

As a "new" club Duncan it probably does feel like they have achieved the impossible. Let them have their moment of glory and enjoy it. The expectation levels will continue to grow the higher they climb. The years ahead will be the time the club really has to deliver the goods.

With the amount of invoices i send off to the accounts dept to the Wrekin council believe me its well repaid back, after news of the help last season from the local tax payers money i immediately increased every invoice by 10%

if we god forbid, ever got into the same pickle that telford did how many people would have just said"well that's us fu**ed then" and do or think no more about it?Me?-i've neither the money or time but i'd like to think i'd have tried to help.Ido not know Lee Carter or any of the people who saved their club but i for one applaud them for getting off their arses and getting it done when the odds were stacked against them. This time last year they had nothing-this year they are still in business they are generating interest and business that most firms would kill for and they deserve massive amounts of credit for getting any sort of glory when they could so easily have died.I support Shrewsbury Town but i bear no malice to Telford,Wrexham,Chester,Real Madrid,Hadjuk Split,Borrusia monchengladbach or partick thistle under 15 girls reserves-it is pointless.Just for once appreciate what a group of people can do when they are in the brown stuff and it's only their hard work and dedication that has kept them alive. If your workplace was under threat it's people like him who would keep you in jobs.Rant over!!I don't often go off on one but knocking people who can achieve feats like this are plain below the belt.It could be us one day so think on and don't be so dismissive

Agree in most parts Cuzz but they were blessed with a brand new stadium and solid infrastructure with which to build from, which is one hell of a start if you compare it to other clubs who have found themselves in a similar position.
What they've achieved this year is down to hard work and committment from all involved. Good luck to them.

Well done to Lee and all involved I have to ask a couple of questions, the people of Telford/Wellington etc backed the club very well this season, why did it take them so long? We went there twice last season and in both games had the majority of the support, they were also outnumbered by Chester fans which really was "their hour of need". Are these folk always going to be reliable now?

Freedom of the borough of Telford and Wrekin simply implies that we can take our electronic tags off. Anyway we in Telford are now posh as we have a Tory MP !

And now it belongs to the council tax payers of Telford & Wrekin ;D Well done Dunc, Grinfish and the rest I consider it a fair price to pay, to allow me to shop in peace on the odd saturday afteroon, knowing the chavs are all whooping it up against Crinkley Bottom United a mile or 3 away. And Telford isn't Tory, only the Reekin'. And then probably only cos Scott Howie voted tactically, knowing he'd be leaving the area soon

Well done to Lee.
A perfect example of the the Football Club and the Local Council working together.
Can you imagine SABC giving Roland Wycherley the freedom of the Borough at the moment???
I THINK NOT
