We should all be lickin each others @rses on here for a commendable season through the gates. 4251 average for 4th from bottom finish is fantastic and only just short on the 4383 av when we won the league back in 93/94. What potential we really have, someone exploit it........PLEASE!!! Well played boys n girls (PS the lickin @rses thing is a figure of speech)

I think we would be averaging between 5,500 and 6,000 if we spent a season challenging at the top of the league. Football as a whole has changed in the past decade and most teams get more fans through the gates now than they did back in 93/94.
Also, up until December time in the 93/94 season we didn't look like challenging for promotion and our average attendance was nearer 3,000. For the games we played after christmas we averaged 5,200+

in the mid 80s when we were in the 'championship' we averaged less! according to my 1987 football league yearbook we averaged just over 4,000. Admittedly this was when even big teams like manure would get 35,000 crowds in their then 56,000 capacity old trafford (ok they were a bit rubbish in those days too but you get the point...)

the potential of our club is much bigger than what we currently see
If you give the people of Shrewsbury
1) toilets
2) an uninterrupted view
3) enough room for children
4) value for money
then you can reap the rewards
Presently I would say we are struggling on all 4 points, and so only really gain the ultra keen footie fans rather than casual supporters

6) interaction with the local community.
If when we get some new facilities, maybe the club could take up the scheme that wolves do.
Hold a late night 5-aside comp, for teenagers and young people who would otherwise be bumming about outside shops, hasseling people and being a pain in the arse.
Or maybe like Leyton orient do, roll up to various places in and around the county, set up and envite people who are on the dole, disabled people, people who have been excluded from schools, asylem seekers etc. Give them something to do, get them doing some exercise, and reaching out to people who are strugglling at the bottom of society.
It costs money, but both schemes are either funded by the local council, or various sports grants or in the case of Orient part funded by local businesses.
Its time the club also made an attack on Telford, Market Drayton, Wem, Whitchurch and Oswestry. All of these towns have large deprived areas, and all are within the clubs shropshire remit.
