Berkely gets my vote. Not as quick as aiston, but just as mazey and also got crosses in. A bit like aiston though, was often the subject of a siving (?sp, as in cutting, rather being drained of water ;D ) tackle.
Whats he doing now, anyone know?

didn't Mickey Brown get in the team of the year in our championship season?
every goal kick went to him, and he could cross as well
during that spell he was awesome

indeed he also had a great deal of pace. However thats over 10 years ago.
The mickey brown we've had in the last 10 years is one who never ecovered his pace after that broken leg at Preston

Weve had some decent wingers since I've been watching Town. Like Alex MacGregor, Gary Hackett, Paul Tester and the best of the lot Paul Maguire....now he was class

JP I think you must be the same vintage as me you've just made me all misty eyed for the past. Alex Mac my first real town hero.... Maguire an all time town great. These young whippersnappers who rate Berkley no nothing

Here Here, I say. Along with all the other Olduns. Alex Mac (lazy sod who strolled around with his hands up his sleeve - but when he got the ball, he was class) and Maguire for me!

Not in the last 10 years I know but best I can remember straight off the top of my head would be Paul Maguire, the Late Alan Groves and Jimmy Mac.
Sadly "Super Sam" doesnt cut it when compared to any of those I'm afraid.

What about Mike Kenning, Trevor Merredith and surely one of the best ofall time Jimmy Mclaughlin, but maybe thoseare going too far back for most on here

Of the choice available i've voted for Mickey Brown. I liked Sammy, but Mickey's end product was more regular.
But, when i first started watching Town we were treated to the skills of the superb Paul Maguire.

Of those, Berkley by far. Though I like Mickey, his last spell was generally very disappointing.

The combination of Dave Roberts and Alan Groves with Alf Wood at centre forward still lives in the memory!

Mike Kenning on the right, Jimmy McLaughlin on the left. All we need now, is big Arthur and Alf Wood to get on the end of the countless quality crosses into the box.

Though I like Mickey, his last spell was generally very disappointing. My sentiments entirely. Brown was very frustrating for me. Had far more ability than he often used to show. His goalscoring (or lack of it frequently) was not good (THAT game at Exeter excepted) - anyone who can remember THAT glaring miss at Cardiff when we needed the win badly will agree. Still far, far better than Aiston will ever be though.

I was delighted to see Dave Roberts and Alan Groves start to appear in the exchanges. Paul Mcguire as well.
Sorry but the suggested talents of Sam etc could not touch those three.
Soft spot for Jimmy Mac of the 1960's. He pitched up one day when we were playing football on the Sundorne pitches and he stayed with us for an hour crossing balls for us 10 year old to head beyond desperate keeper.. Aaahhh Happy Days

Sam provided excitment as did brown and berkley, but it has to be darren currie, no one could cross a ball like him.
