Have all been excellent - especially Darren Tinson. He was a player I always wanted to sign for the football club an excellent defender with some real quality. terrific professional.
The signing of Howie and Tinson was an overdue declaration of war by the club.

Why is he not offering Sammy a contract? He is one of the few players we have who can run at defenders and beat them.

"Over the last five months the way we have defended has been down to the likes of Darren Tinson, Scott Howie and Trevor Challis and the whole lot have given everything. But their best has only been good enough for fourth from bottom." says GP. So, the attack had nothing to do with our position either?

The rumour is that a contract was offered, but not enough to tempt Sam (I'm guessing on reduced terms?). The other strong rumour is that he's been offered a contract at Port Vale. Take your pick. Either way he's a big loss in my book - I thought he was starting to tidy up his game and looking a good provider for Kelvin and ? whoever GP brings in.

To be fair to Sammy, quite a lot of his hard work was wasted by the fact that there was no-one getting into positions for the crosses he did put in. He certainly made some great runs and crosses this season which went unrewarded. He also won a lot of freekicks and corners which again were largely without product because of our poor performance from set pieces. I was rather hoping that with Ashton and Smith to supply the kicks, and Walton and Cowan to aim for, we might have seen some better returns next season....
