Hello again everyone.....since moving to sleepy Whitchurch, I've been quiet on the messageboard. I've been reading, and nothing has stirred me up to write recently, but I thought i should just send some hares running.
Am I right to assume that according to the present rules, if spectators invade the pitch at any time, the two clubs involved are likely to face fines and or points deductions? We were constantly reminded of this yesterday by Ryan, and it was observed by all. If this the case, then I presume that the FA will be suspending any confirmation on the Swansea promotion case until the reports are in on the game at Bury. Clearly there were some nasty scenes at Bury, what you come to expect from Swansea fans, and this will surely result in a points deduction and fine. Both sets of supporters behaved well at Gay Meadow yesterday, so is there one rule for us and another for Bury?
I suspect I know the answer to this one, the plebs that run the game today are frightened of any confrontation and never make a decision without hiding behind some reulation; however it is clear to me that there was a pitch invasion and indeed a disturbance involving some SCFC player(s).
If the rules are followed shouldn't somebody be keeping Southend informed? I wonder if this has been thought through?
Yes, I do have a hang up about Swansea City; as I do with any other club that has cheated and got away with it, ie Exeter, Wrexham, Telford...spending money they haven't got, fleecing local businesses, getting new grounds built, and then pleading ignorance. We at STFC would have had a new ground by now if the Directors had shown the usual lack of integrity exhibited by football club directors; fortunately we have a bunch of blokes who, although they drive us mad sometimes, run our club properly and decently, and are doing things properly. On another issue, congrats to Telford ragamuffins on their promotion. Note this was achieved with the full co operation of Telford and Wrekin Council, who have backed them all the way; they have recognised the value of the club to the community. Imagine what could be achieved if we had that level of support from SABC; it's never been forthcoming in the past, and is even less likely now with the recent election results sending the town and council blue....what an 'orrible prospect.
