A few fans of other local sides have recently questioned where Salop's real derby rivallry is. What do you reckon?

can't understand how people can be not bothered although i did expect some votes there. that suggests that basically it doesn't matter who we play each week - just teams who or higher or lower than us.

I went to a game vs Wrexham - when we got relegated and they won promotion, the atmosphere was the best in terms of when we played other games.
there were quite a lot of 'juicey' chants being exchanged too.
of course at the time the only one i knew the words to was the sheep s****** one.

They ( IE Wrexham ) dont give a stuff about us, its made out as if its some famouse derby, but its just a local game which we consider special.

I'm not bothered,
why?
because wrexham dont hate us as much as elements of STFC hate them.
Chester, well neither of us are bothered about the other
Walsall-well they are to busy being "rivals" of Villa, Wolves, Brum and WBA.
And Telford, well dont see the club as rivals, i do however dislike a few of their supporters and i'd consider it less of a football rivalry and more of a genral dislike.
Hereford, darby my arse, its miles away from parts in shropshire.
Kiddie-stop taking the p**s!

Walsall was always the derby when I was a kid, because Wolves, Albion, Villa etc were in Div 1 and Wrexham in Div 4.
We were both in Div 3 and it was the closest game for both of us. The record crowd was against Walsall remember.
The Wrexham thing only grew from late 70's when we were both doing well and got to Div 2.

Wasn't the record attendance swelled by thousands and thousands of Walsall fans who came to watch their team get promotion or something?
In the recent past our attendances against Walsall have been rather poor but this rivallry thing is probably going to relate to how long you have been a Town fan. Older fans will count Walsall and the Wolves, whilst us young ones will have Wrexham and the very young ones will have Telford.

Spot on Scooter, I remember many vitriolic games against Walsall home and away, a certain Pleck Park gang from Walsall were always at the fore of stirring up trouble, and it was far more bitter than the rivalry with Wrexham.
Trouble was not restricted to gangs as the crowd was not segregated and Walsall and Shrewsbury fans mingled, a lot of verbal and physical confrontations place.
However todays rivalries are mixed and varied and Wrexham is probably the liveliest as racial Welsh /English overtones and slurs are used to spice up the occasion oh and of course there is that little matter of winning on the football field!!
