Well it's almost 1am and still no idea which way it's going to run aside from the obvious Labour victory.
Lib Dems doing well in Lab safe seats, the Tories taking a marginal with a 6% swing.
Pretty exciting stuff

It's very interesting. I have feeling Labour's majority will be down to around 70, with the Cons getting 33% of the vote and Labour 38%. Fair play to the Liberal though. So far their vote is 7% up.

I don't usually watch the election coverage - do all the Labour safe seats usually get counted quicker than the rest? It's 39 Labour, 4 for the rest so far

Sky News did their forecast of a 80 majority at 1.30am. Switch to BBC and Dimbleby and Marr say it would be crazy for anyone to do a forecast at this point in time. 2 mins later they announce BBC has it's forecast which goes from 68 to 78 to 82 and now back to.......yes, 80.

Him and his missus looked in terrible shape. And I truly felt very sorry for them both when the Independent who was standing as his son was killed in Iraq made that speech. I wouldn't pass any further comment on that as I have no idea how the guy (the Independent - can't remember his name - is it Kirk?) must be feeling, but still feel for Blair on that one. Best moment by contrast was seeing Rusty Lee turn up in 4th place in Kidderminster for UKIP

Positives being that Kilroy silk got bearly 6% of the vote, bearly enough to get his deposit back.
Worrying signs though of the continued rise of the all new middle class, "intellectual" and smart looking BNP. In some places getting 6/7% of the vote.
Couple of ministers gone, one health and one for schools.
Lib dems winning seats from labour, but failing miserably to execuit their south east and west plans of removing key torry players.

He was found out in Oldham and moved on to somewhere else to preach his crap. Why does he not stand where he lives?

I live in Rochdale but am part of the Oldham East and Saddleworth ward. 2109 people voted for BNP, which I find most worrying, although knowing some of the areas covered in this ward, quite believable. Rochdale was one of the ones won by Lib Dem from Labour. Never really been into Elections before but this has really interested me. I am 29 next week and it's the 1st General election I have personally voted in!! I must be getting influenced by my little bro

I think I managed to watch the coverage until about 5 (it's starting to get light early isnt it!). On the whole it was an interesting evening of viewing. The best moment was that vote for yourself party woman who got one vote. And then she did that song afterwards. Brilliant ;D

Dreary boring stuff showing how utterly moribund mainstream politics has become.
Bliar in power for another term on 36% of a 60% turnout. Lost all their votes to the LibDems so in terms of ideology Britain remains much the same.
Tories avoiding disaster and have finally stopped losing seats to LibDems but need to start winning them back.
The Tories are a huge topic amongst Patriots and traditional conservatives, and I am not in the camp that says their downfall would be a good thing. Despite the lack of nerve amongst the leadership, and a failure of anyone in the party to examine our demographic future, MPs, councillors and activists are generally well to the 'right' of the other two parties.
Without them the landscape will become a straight 'choice' between Labour and Libdems and I don't believe a new 'real Conservative' force would automatically rise to take their place.
Tories should look at the amazing success of shameless right-wing populist Andrew Rosindell (is Romford now their safest seat?). Rosindell has so far kept shtum on the subject of immigration but he can't ignore changes in nearby Dagenham and Barking, and BNP success there forever. So Tories to make tentative moves towards real conservatism, and the successes of smaller parties should keep them on their toes.
As for the BNP, no huge headline vote share, dissapointing to miss out on 2nd place in Barking, but 34 saved deposits and a good increase in votes per seat on 2001. Despite a lack of wealthy backers, media smears, and the damage to personal lives standing for the party can do, we are now equal fourth place with the Greens in England. Steady progress which if cock-ups are kept to a minimum should hopefully get its reward in next years council elections.
