I am going to totally ignore the issue of national government when I vote. None of the parties adequately present my political views and so its about coming to a judgement about the candidates and I like my local MP he has been very active in the constituency - which he has lived in and has family connections with - as it happens he is a Liberal Democrat.
In the County Council elections I will be voting for the Labour.
I think on Friday morning we will be reflecting again on how wrong the opinion polls have got it.

"I think on Friday morning we will be reflecting again on how wrong the opinion polls have got it."
It's going to be closer than most of those polls are predicting, i'm sure (Labour 40%, Cons 30% for example). I saw one poll on Sky news had Labour 36%, Cons 32%. I think the results will be closer to the latter poll.

Sadly, the outcome is a bit too predictable. Labour will win. Hopefully they will have their majority slashed to maybe 50, and realise that they cannot continue to run rough-shod over the electorate just because Blair "believes" it is right. Maybe he will take the hint and step aside.
I voted Labour the last 2 occasions - I cannot in all conscience do so again. I believe the war in Iraq was wrong - almost criminally so. I also think that as a parent with academic "kids" I had an expectation that Labour would honour their promise not to introduce Tuition top up fees - now I have to foot a huge bill where they told me there would be none. I also hoped that they would deliver some kind of transport network that would provide punctual, clean and roomy public transport, and a health service that would be accessible, efficient and competently staffed...........
A vote for the Conservatives is unthinkable - they are a spent force, bordering on farce. So it has to be time to give the Lib Dems a chance - they won't govern, but they might shock Labour into listening.

Having voted (and worked for) the Labour Party since the late 60's, I will today be voting Lib Dem.

Used that a few times. Unfortunately, I always come out as being a Green. Which would be a great help if they were actually standing in Burton!!!!

I used that link to determine who I should vote for (having been totally undecided beforehand) and have already cast my vote this morning!
Worryingly, The 2 major party candidates have been ghosted into the seat by their respective parties. The Labour guy because he's a golden boy and the seat is a "safe" one and the Tory is here as the sacrificial lamb.
There's a lot of dismay here, particularly from the labour voters and I think the lib-dems might just shock everyone!!

I've voted.
The polling station was pretty busy, I hope that is suggestive of a high turnout.
For reasons I've already gone into and with a certain reluctance, I voted Green in the end.

How the hell anyone in Shrewsbury can vote Blue, in Shrewsbury, baffles me. The way that tw*t Armstrong and his cronies have grouped together under their Tory banner, to try and destroy our football club, makes me abhor everything they stand for. Unfortunately, as Blair says, a vote for the Lib Dems will let the Tories in by the back door. Back to "boom and bust".

In the local election I have voted Labour, not because of the party, but because the candidate, John Tandy, has proved himself to be an excellant councillor for our ward. He will no doubt retain his seat. However, in the National election I have voted Lib Dem, after years of let down by Tony Blair and his cronies, then of course there is Michael Howard, the man who gave us Poll Tax, and in particular Danny Kowpat, who makes me cringe every time I see or hear him. Shrewsbury is going to be a very interesting result and could prove a yardstick for the outcome of the General Election.

One thing that really p**ses me off is people that complain about and criticize the government yet dont actually bother to vote, not because they are illegible simply because they cannot be arsed. If you cannot be arsed to vote for the party you think is best for Britain then what right do you have to criticize the party that does get elected. Fools! When i am old enough i will be taking full advantage of my right to vote.
