The agreement was going to be given to the Club to complete the pitches/facilities alongside The New Meadow last week, until the Portfolio Holder for Leisure Charles Armstrong and The Councillor for Meole Brace Michael Owen stepped in and put their oars in claiming "if we let this go through now the club will never get the facilities done"
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I seem to remember the other Councillor Owen being opposed to the NM and the facilities around it. At the planning meeting she said that the community facilities would make things worse for residents because they would be in constant use - not just on match days.
The sad thing is that in Telford the council wins awards for working in partnership with the football club, while in Shrewsbury certain councillors just use it for scoring political points.

Every member of the Committee, whichever party they were representing, voted against the proposal. They just do not trust the club to provide the community facilities. The club appear not to have the finance to do it so we appear to be heading for another delay.
The two parties need to get together and investigate jointly what grants are available so that the community facilites can be provided.

Thats why the 5 year delay and the council had it away with the grant and used it for Sundorne. Within 5 years a grant could have become available again.
