Haven't had it from Pricey yet, I think the big-man was waiting fro Scotty to tell him his top three players for M.O.M choices.
Here are themain highlightes of the game:
ASFC 1-0 up. Carl Blakemore trippe inside the box, penalty converted by P. Thomas
1-1: Gallon slip let Hull striker in to equalise.
1-2: Leahy takes down Hull striker in the area and pen is converted.
1-3: Surging run through the centre by the young Hull no.9 is finished off with an excelent strike into the bottom corner.
HT: ASFC 1-3 Hull
2-3: Carl Blakemore pulls it back to 2-3 although I can't remember the goal!
3-3: A.Thomas 'reverse megs' folls the defender and his low, strongly struck cross is parried into his own net by the Hull keeper
3-4: Stu Dunn nets 14th goal of the season after an excellent free-kick sees the top scorer beat the Hull offside trap to side foot into the corner.

In its rough draft - Phil there is a gap that needs filling when you put it on the ASFC website!!! Nd scotty still did not give top 3 yet - so pick iy yourself
Shrewsbury Town ASFC 4 - Hull City ASFC
In a busy day for fans football in Shropshire, as the ASFC and the ASFC second XI both had games, it was Hull City, who would provided the challenge for ASFC as the Seconds on Notts County.
With Allen taking management duties of the Seconds and taking Downward with him they were the only notable absences from the ASFC firsts from that game. But with Kleckot and Rigby returning the ASFC had a full squad to pick from. Groves whose attendance has been amazing from someone living in Portsmouth this season was also missing.
So Leahy had some changes to make at the back, opting to make a straight swap of Rigby for Groves at right back and also chose to stick with Williams at centre back and P Thomas at left back after last games successful trial of the new system. The midfield and forward line had its familiar look from recent games
Team
Pearson (GK) Rigby (RB) Leahy (CB) Williams (CB) P Thomas (LB) Dunn (RW) A Thomas (CM) Blakemore (CM) Edge (LW) Price (ST) Davis (ST) Bench - Kleckot (CM) S Price (RW) Molinux (RB) Owen (ST)
With Kleckot refereeing the first half the game started at a lively pace with town settling well. With the ball at feet and restricting Hull to long clever hopeful balls town passed it around well reminiscent of the first half vs Kidderminster. With chances being created at regular intervals it was only the finish that was lacking. First good play form Blakemore fed the ball into Price who swivelled and shot weekly into the keeper. Price again was presented with a wonderful chance when Davis was set away by Dunn down the right and a pin point cross from deep was met by Price who couldn’t quite direct the header home. Even so the whole team were playing well and further chances fell to Thomas from range and Davis who’s clever run deserved much more. Edge was probing and tormenting the Hull right back with a number of clever skills and good through balls for Blakemore. Davis was working really hard chasseing back and helping break things up while price gave the long ball option a target.
It was in fact Carl “Carlos” Blakemore that helped break the deadlock. Having received the ball from A Thomas Blakemore burst towards the box breaking through one tough challenge. With Price and Davis providing the passing option the pacey midfielder went on into the box where he brought out the scything challenge from the player behind and town were awarded a stone wall penalty, odd as it was the first foul in the game some 15 minutes in. Penalty expert Phil trotted up from Left back and coolly scuffed home another to take him to an impressive 7 goals this season. His brother was heard to comment “ if you connect with one of these penalty’s correctly this season Phil the keeper will probably save it!!!!”
With tails up more chances came and went and Price was guilty of missing the third of a hatrick of good first half chances when he met a good Dunn cross and again found the keeper on good form. With Rigby and P Thomas getting forward well and providing good over laps down the flanks and putting in good crosses It allowed Dunn and Edge to push more central. With town once again popping the ball about and switching play from side to side it seemed only a matter of time until town extended there lead. A poor kick from the Keeper was almost punished by Davis when he kicked it straight at him but the first touch gave the keeper a second chance.
But town were to be caught by a late and powerful Hull revival that was not seen coming. First the big lad in centre mid for Hull started to see more and more off the ball and the player the Hull lads called “Cropper” started to play very well in midfield as well. With this Hull started creating chances, first from long range but then the pressure began to build. With the defence suddenly going from crushing to massively under pressure it was not shock when a mistake was made as Williams dealt poorly (in his own words) with a Phil Thomas pass and the forward nipped into to disposes Williams run in on goal and score. A game witch town had dominated was level some how.
Worse was to come - with town struggling to find the ball forward and with little sticking in midfield Hull pressed further, and forced Leahy into a wild hack in the box which although he believes he got ball from also whacked the forward right across the knees which looked bad. Kleckot was on hand to award another penalty. Which Scotty did not save.
The ASFC were by this point ragged, although trying 100% to man, nothing was coming off and the rants from players begin in earnest. Hull added a 3rd with 5 minutes to go when (PHILL I DON’T REMEMBER THIS GOAL MATE FILL IN DETAILS)
At the half time whistle, Leahy settled the players and stressed that there was no way the ASFC deserved to be 2 goals down in a game where we had dominated for 30 minutes. One change was made at half time with Kleckot entering the fray. Leahy left the players with the though that the next goal was totally vital for the out come of this game.
Town started much the same as in the first half getting back on track and dominating the game. Ten minutes in and Rigby and Dunn were replaced by Molenux and S Price. It was the impressive Davis who got town back in the game by bursting down the right and finding Price who had peeled away at the back post to finish from 4 yards (again!!!). Town were back and Price moved to within 1 of Dunn for top goal scorer. Owen then replaced Davis.
With A Thomas and Kleckot now dominating the midfield and the impressive Blakemore having a stormer as well (almost scoring a great goal from a lay off up front) town looked much the better team. Kleckot went on a storming second half run bursting pat 3 players but being unable to find Owen in he box.
Its important to stress that the comeback that town were about to have owes a lot to the subs that came on in this game. Having cooled their heels for most of the season Steve Price and John Molinuex had very impressive games when they came on and helped town back into the game. With several players threatening to pack ASFC in this season end, its going to be interesting to see these two players really press for a starting place every week. It’s for sure that will be competition for places again next year, with several new players looking to be introduced to the ASFC ranks.
It was though that old stalwart Ant Thomas who produced a moment of magic that got town level. After playing in midfield with Kleckot and Molinux, Ant found him self on the right hand edge of the box by the by-line, tightly marked. But Ant in a great piece of showboating managed to cleverly turn and bamboozle his man and got away down the line fired the ball in hard and low. The cross hit a defender and was redirected to goal where the goalkeeper made a right mess and allowed Shrewsbury level. Ant almost produced more magic when he fired a corner onto the bar and another corner was headed off the post by Price who was replaced by Davis shortly after. Dunn also returned for Blakemore.
So now looking for the winner town pressed. There has been no mention of the defence in this second half as Person had zero shots to save in the second half and the defence were relatively un troubled, anything that did come forward was dealt very well with Leahy at the back who managed to not let the clever forward of Hull have a sniff all day. It’s said every week but the most consistent performers of the team all season have been found in the back four.
It was the goal shy in recent weeks Dunn however that finally got back on track for his much-craved top goal scorer award. Manically the defender from hull rushed out and just handballed the ball 25 yards out. With A Thomas looking to put a quality cross in the Hull boys panicked and when the cross was taken they stepped up and left Dunn, Leahy, Kleckot and Edge all on side, but it was Dunn who rushed in and redirected the ball (via a deflection) into goal. Town regained the lead with 20 minutes to go.
With plenaty of time left Owen should have scored from 5 yards out but his powerfull dirve was well saved by the keeper and Davis managed to bring the best out of a now overworked Hull keeper testing him from range a couple of times. As time ticked away it was not untill the last 2-3 minutes that hall regained any type of composure and the lead was rarly undre thret.
So town maintained there unbeaten home reocrd this season after a reall tough test of charecter at half time. Another really gutsy performance shwing the depth and quality of the whole of the ASFC squad not just the first team.
Having given out many a DOD awards this year Gallongave it to himslef for helping Hull get an equaliser after the backpass him by surprise. Ant was also in the running for stopping the game because his laces werent done up properley. At one stage i thought we may have had to call in Mummy Thomas to sort it out.
Scotty Pearson whos not so good with the computers managed to miss the deadline for man of the match and the top three vote so he

Would just like to also point out Phill has totally gotten it wrong for goal scorers - I scored the 2nd Goal not Carl after Andy made a good run down the wing!!! Use my report Mr Director of football its much more accurate!!!!

Fair point Chaz In fact I would love it if a few more of you that played in that game started coming to play for the full team next year when you can make it??? It’s a bloody hard job making all the games but I guess a few of you if you fancied it could get to most of them??? We shall see who makes the step into the ASFC for next year??

ASFC games are a big commitment and I admire all of you that have put the miles in this season. It seems very well organised and I think the fans appreciate having a supporters team to be proud of (you often notice ASFC threads have a lot of viewings so I guess the interest extends beyond just the players) My weekends are dominated by junior football at the moment and I love watching my son learn about the game so playing myself has become of secondary importance. But the B&A social games and 5 asides are great and long may they continue
