During the mid to late eighties i used to go canvassing with the Labour Party , around the Grange. Thankless job. My enthusiasm was matched step for step by most peoples total lack of interest Have to be honest here, in the four years i have been at this house, i have never once been visited by a campagning councillor or canvasser for any party.

I still await my pre election chat with Mr Paterson. Had a couple of rumbles with him in Hadnall back in the 90s when I lived there. Last time round he said to me'Didnt you use to live somewhere else' Fair play to the lad.

we had a lib dem candidate round my way.
Realed off a list of names (about 10 in total) whom he wanted to speak to (because they were registered voters) unfortunatly none of them live here anymore.
Stated quite happily that "this is the easiest house yet!"

Thats quite a lot of front for someone who is afraid to reveal their identity on an annoymous internet message board If I revealed myself it wouldn't be an anonymous board would it? Not canvassing in my area, no candidate. Like many party members in more 'middle-class' occupations I have to be extremely wary of what my work knows about my political views and extra-curricula activities. Plastering my name all over bulletin boards wouldn't be too clever would it? Hopefully changes to my employment situation in the next couple of years should allow be to take on a more visible role.
