Thats his agenda set then, not one for making things easy for the board is he, except perhaps after the meeting when he can( I hope) announce with delight how ambitious the board are

break the bank, rack up the debts...maybe not. I'd rather we spent within our means.

It is right the GP sets out a challenging agenda.
What is not right is that the directors go down the path of spending money the club does not have to support his plan.
It could be that we read too much into the article and that GP emerges from his meetings full of smiles and hope for the future.
Lets hope so

That statement gives the board absolutely no room for manoeuvre. Of course you cannot have a five year plan for what happens on the pitch if you do not have a five year plan for off the pitch.
Does the club even have a five week plan for what happens off the pitch?

Surely he is putting more presure on the board by telling the press all his demands of them?

I can imagine it now, the 300 seater Executive Match Day Carvery has no tables or plates because GP has demanded all the money goes on a new striker and some training bibs
Still, at least our Chief Executive can sort the mess out

it's also about how you write the story, if you read back over the website from the last few weeks gp says the same things in several different interviews and ask gary...

What is not right is that the directors go down the path of spending money the club does not have to support his plan. I think Gary has been on the record of saying that you do not need to spend a hell of alot of money to get out of this division. His strategy is quite clear. Bring young players in and have them play together for a season and then the season after watch them get the club up the division. Once promotion has been won then they have developed enough individual to be able to compete at the higher level. What he is about is having a properly run football club. I particularly would like to point to the following comment, "We've got to see whether we have enough to do what we want to do and it's not just about what money we've got, but also about what facilities we have. It's also about what work ethic is in place around the club, where we want to go and how much pride people have in their football club and make sure we change the way of thinking at this football club to the right way of thinking."

GP does not strike me as the type of man to suggest a 5 year plan and then demand money that could put the club out of business in a short period. Does the wage % of turnover not govern what can be spent.

Considering the idiots we have had working down the Meadow, GP will do for me.

I think the board should back Gary Peters to the hilt, its basic economics really, a winning team will get more fans through the gate and more revenues generated from the commercial side.
Give him what he wants i say! If he had a record of bankrupting clubs then i would be concerned, however his record indicates he makes more than what he spends and is a very sucessfull manager.

Having now read the full article, including such quotes as "it would have to be something drastic that would make me not want to stay here" makes the online cut look a bit daft really, unless it has made people go out and buy the paper ;D

not neccesarily though Kickin.
Chester were a championship winning side last season yet reallt struggled to get anything close to 3000 attendances on a regular basis

So the Shropshire Star doesnt have anything news worthy to write about the Town and the author of the article knows that there are a lot of B & A contributors whose little *rses twitch at the merest mention of Gary Peters not signing a contract.
For Gods sake get real!! There are far more important things to worry about than the role of a football manager. If the guy doesnt stay its not the end of the world. Yes-he has done a marvellous job this season and he is a light at the end of a never ending gloomy tunnel . But if he goes...........life goes on..............

The article is fine, the cut version online just makes it look very different from the full version, as for GP going etc, he is the first manager to cut the crap basically, and wants the Whole club to be run better, something many of us have been wanting for years........and years.................

Chester is a lot closer to Liverpool /Everton its hardly suprising they get small gates as the town is full of posh scousers
