There is little doubt in my mind that GP will cut this squad deeply over the next few weeks. He knows the style of play he wants for the future and will continue to bring in talent that he has scouted to take the club forward.
Look out for some big surprises in the end of season review of the playing staff. There could be many on here who will not be so pleased with GP if they see their heroes leave.
Personally I feel GP has proved himself to the club and the supporters. He has done what he came here to achieve and that was to keep town in the League. He has done it before his deadline of May.
What the future holds for him and our club remains to be seen but I feel that under his management we have the best man to give this club the springboard for future success and financial security. It has been a great many years since we had the potential for improvement in our League status.
I hope that GP will sign a contract and that the Board will have the courage to back him in all he wishes to achieve for the club. He has made a hit with most supporters with his direct appeals to the faithful and has an obvious empathy with our plight as supporters of a long-term ailing team. Well, we will get behind him if he shows the same honesty and integrity we have seen so far. The ability to stand up and tell the people who matter, us, why he makes decisions, where he sees the club going and what we can do to help.

Totally agree.
He sums up Shrewsbury - unfashionable and hardworking but his strategy is just what is needed - YOUTH!
I hope that he tries a few of the young lads between now and the end of the season and I can't wait to see some of the other 'dozen irons in the fire' that he is talking to at the moment. If they are anything like Ashton; Cowan and Langmead then I am really looking forward to the future.
If I have one concern then it is not with GP or his approach but our reaction to what he does. We have suffered such purile performances for so long that it is not unreasonable that we are desparate for some success ASAP, but youth takes time to develop and we need to be realistic. Yes, we should expect an improvement next year but we need to be realistic and accept that it might be a bit longer before we start to see the real return on GP's efforts.
But that is all for the future, for now we should all thank him for keeping us in the league.

Our reaction is going to be vital, GP has a really good rapour with the fans, he makes us part of it, more than just another supporter, maybe just clever PR some might say, but if you feel included not spoken down too then your more likely to give that little extra, which in this case will be patience, I doubt we will see 'total football' under GP, commitment , effort, and a will to win will be the future.

People have moaned at Lowe leaving, fans who liked him/backed him...I honestly dont think we have seen anything yet. If it means the struggles subside and we can get a battling 1 to 11 out there week in week out, then Im all for that. Gary is about to use a broom to sweep out the old from the dressing room and good luck to him

Mid-table with a crop of young players coming through will do nicely next season. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Totally agree, makes next season look very interesting, I'd imagine a pretty much new team, bar 4 or 5 current players. We have to be patient and support him and any team he puts out.

You've got to say that hge's done a tremendous job to pick up the sow's ear of a squad that Quinn left behind and he's trurned it into an imitation leather purse in pretty quick time.
I would think he will look for mid-table security next season, with a much younger squad in order to try and challenge the following year.
Its important that foundations are laid and that things don't accelerate too quickly

have a read of this weeks ask gary, interesting bits on future and why he left preston...
personally i think town have always been pretty good at producing young players, it's just about finding the right person to give those lads the push into the first team.

There are only a few players I would keep on,, and yes one of those would be Sam Aiston.
I am prepared to accept mediocre results next season, just so long as STFC attempt to play some football, and I see some movemant with the training facilities problem, the new ground and or a supporters bar.
I however will not accept mediocre performances with poor, direct negative football.
I go to the football to occassionally be entertained and have a laugh with fellow STFC supporters, however i will find it difficult to get motivated if are away performances suddenly transfere to our home performances too.
variety is important, whether that be having a couple of players who can dribble, take set pieces, are big and hard or are pure pace. I just worry that we will lose what individuality we have and become a Chester/lesser sucesful lincoln...

I think Peters is looking for tough hard working players for next season, and of the players whose contracts are expiring i think he will keep very few of them. We need to be patient, i think that in 3 or 4 seasons time we can expect to be a mid table league one side. Onwards and upwards with Gary!
