Has everyone seen the article in the Star today about the 'summit' GP is having with the Directors.
Do you think the players will realise on Saturday how vital a win is on Saturday not only for this season but for the club's (and our) next 5 years?
With so many of them out of contract, I do hope so.

HURRAY! A post about our club! ;D Reassuring to read that Gary is planning for the future. I feel that he has been badly let down by the board given the fact they promised him so such RE: the New Meadow and have all but taken the non-commerical bonuses of the move away. Doubt he would stick around if they fobbed him off again, main priorities as far as I can see are establish the club in Div 3, improve the youth setup and secure an new trainning ground/improve the current one. Would hate to think would become of us if he left-Jimmy Quinn anyone?

The Board have always stated their ambitions to be high. Pinacle being back where we were in the 80's (but without the hairdo's........and unfortunately Sir Vic). Hopefully they can support their verbal with a business plan.

All they can do is lay the cards on the table and see what GP wants to do. If he moves on, we'll move on. Simple and it will give whoever comes in as a new manager a clean fresh start to bring in whoever they want

It's about teamwork, whilst I would like GP to remain he cannot dictate to the board.
That said I hope they honour in full their promises when he arrived.

I do so agree with your comments. When I was first told about this rumour my reaction was: well I can't change his mind if he wants to go he'll go and there's nothing I can do although I would be bitterly disappointed that he let us down.
We would have to just pick ourselves up and start again. As you say though, the Board must also keep their words to him.
What ever happens STFC will still be there and so will I through thick and thin.

I hope he stays, I like the type of players he has brought to the club (and no doubt he has several more signings in mind,) and the general way he has approached the job however it is also vital we remain in a stable financial state. A 5 year plan is a reasonable request lets hope the boards policies make it a position he feels he is unable to refuse.

Totally disagree sorry Rob.
If GP were to leave at the end of this season we'd be back to square one. Square one being October 2004 and a slippery slope out to non-League.
We need at least a season more of this guy at our Football club to pave the way for future managers.
It is down to the Board now.

If Gary Peters is forced out due to the boards incompetence then they should resign, every last one of them, as they have an absolute gem of a football manager at the moment.
I await to see the outcome....the clock is ticking

A 5 year plan is sensible. I'm sure GP will not demand more than the board can realistically come up with.
It just depends how ambitious the board are - recent developments make me wonder on this one but if GP goes I'm sure they will be in for some serious flak.

Bit of a shame that Gary has to put this in the local press to state what he requires from the club in terms of their comitment, but he is rightly questioning the way the club wants to go in the future...For Gods sake sign the man up.

Not really orangemob1, if the board let gary get away, then they dont deserve to serve our football club... Fair comment there. Hes by far the most impressive manager in terms of backing up his talk with actions we have had for a while. The story is nothing new though in all honesty, GP has consistently said he wants things in place for the long term. IMO the board should be both impressed and slightly intimidated by him. He is most definitley his own man, you have to respect that. He can drag this club forward, the board must back him.

If he walks there needs to be a backlash.

Gary's comments in the Chronicle and Star spoke volumes.
On the directors, simply 'They love the club'. As do 6000 others.
'Any club should have a 5 year plan', and then mentions how we need one!

Anyone remember Jake King's five year plan? Whatever happened to that What i like about GP is he's looking into all the aspects of the Club and where he's not happy he's got the balls to challenge the Board to put it right. At the moment his non signed contract strenghtens his hand to get what he wants and i think the Board will try and meet his demands in fear that he will leave and they get the backlash off the fans.

If he walks there needs to be a backlash. Too right but the board themselves have mad ehim pretty untouchable "The best manager since Graham Turner" won't be leaving STFC if the board have their way
