I've just read it- great stuff! I'm thinking of going to one or two Reserves games - it's good to support them as one or two are already in our first team and more will playing for our first team in future, I'm sure. Couldn't get to this one, but I'm aiming for the one on May 2nd. I've a strange feeling that one of these days Streety will score for the first team- then his future will be secure!!!

I've just logged in again! This one's for ianwhit. How much is it to go to a Reserves match? (I've got a season ticket - but matches are numbered) Am I right - the Bury match is being played at the meadow on May 2nd?

Several of the triallists looked useful, but Street was our best player on the night.
Wiggy - the reserves are playing Stockport at Woodley (just off the M60) a week tonight. If Mondays performance is anything to go by they will be worth watching.

Stuart Bridges and Kevin Mulcahy (note spelling) have been regulars for Villa reserves this season and are both damn good players.

It was spelt Mulchay on the team sheet He is an elegant player and very assured on the ball, not so strong defensively though. Bridges looked strong and efficient both at full back in the first half and in midfield in the second. I'd be happy if we signed both of them.

Bridges is a centre half, both lads have just been released by Villa but would be good players at our level.

Bridges is a centre half, both lads have just been released by Villa but would be good players at our level. If the teamsheet was right and Bridges was No. 3 (and a Danny Murphy look-alike) he played full back then midfield. Whitehead played centre back with Mulcahy in the first half and Sege in the 2nd, Mulcahy moved to left back. (I can't believe I'm getting pendantic about a reserve game )

I wasn't there Dave but the shrewsweb report says Bridges played well alongside Whitehead. ?

I assume you're asking why they would be good players at our level. ?
Premiership reserve football is a very good standard, proper Premiership reserve league here not the thing we play Man Utd 3rd's in. These lads might not be good enough to make it at Villa but they will be plenty good enough for this division and competition will be stiff for their signatures. Plenty of good players have been released by Premiership clubs in the past and gone on to make names for themselves.

We got one of the good uns in Dave Hughes...

just because they are from villa doesn't automatically mean they are good enough for us, think we usually trial about 3/4 from villa each year i've been at the club and none have been good enough..
though as ant says sometimes you find a gem like dave hughes, though not sure how old he was when he made his debut for us..

No it doesn't, but in the case of these two it probably does.
Competition to sign these lads will be stiff.
