If as is entirely possible I move with my job to Birmingham, whats the cheapest form of train tickets (annual pass, quarterly pass and how much roughly) - need to build this in to the "and how much extra would we need to pay you" part of the interview in a few weeks

Depends on whether you will be based in Birmingham all the time or not really. If yes i.e. you will need to commute from Salop into Brum each day, an annual pass I would say is the best. I pay just over a grand a year from Telford (this is discounted by Centro through a scheme with my employer), will probably be about £1400/1500pa from Salop. If you won't be travelling into Brum every day (quite a few Salop commuters "work from home" say 1 day a week, or do site visits), a weekly or monthly pass would probably suit best - I'm afraid I don't know the costings of those (Ant or one of the others should be able to confirm). An annual pass is great for me - saves the hassle of having to renew weekly/monthly, queue up etc and comes straight off my salary before I've spent it . Weekly/monthly passes give you more flexibility, allow you to plan for times when you say may be away for a couple of weeks on holidays/courses/visits and won't be using the train. Sort of answers your question - hopefully one of the other commuters can give you some firm prices from Salop.
