Anyone seen this weeks Chronicle letters page? In it Councillor Armstrong claims that STFC have known all along that they wouldn't get funding for the community facilities at the New Meadow as the funding used at Sundorne was never availble to STFC.
Is Clr Armstrong pro or anti town? If what he says is true then it looks like the Town board are have either been very badly informed or they haven't been completely straight with everyone over the funding for the New Meadow.
I know I shouldn't believe what any Clr in Shrewsbury says, but if it is true about the funding of the community facilites I can't see the club being allowed to build the New Meadow without the community facilities, which means they either have to foot the bill themselves or they have to totally resubmit the whole New Meadow application again without the community facilities.
I hope I'm wrong but this is very worrying news.

Cllr Armstrong knows that STFC have to very good and not argue in public as STFC needs Cllrs like him to agree to differ, you can look at it in many ways, he suggests that STFC could divert grants/funding from the build to community pitches, grants cannot be diverted, funding then also cannot be diverted, because it is tied up to the grants process, STFC could not apply for the funding that has gone to Sundorne because you have to have the funds in place, which at that time STFC didn't. Complicated, but that is the only sense I can make of with help from e-mails from sport England

There is such an utter lack of information surrounding this whole matter who can tell?
Maybe councillor Armstrong should be asked about where the bowlers at SUndorne are going to play now?
I'm not clear that Armstrong he is making a point that has any bearing on the situation now.
The best chance of the new ground and the surrounding land having an important community element is a strong supporters trust run for the benefit of the people of Shrewsbury.
I don't think the politicians or the businessmen are able to do this.
