Hi everyone, Myself and Chaz have been discussing the posibilities of forming a cricket side to take on challengers from the rest of the B & A community throughout the summer months. I can get some kit and am hopeful of getting a wicket. What we want to know is, how many over 35's are there out there that would be interested in taking part ? The sort of thing we have in mind is limited over (20 or 30 each side) with everyone getting the chance to bowl at least a couple of overs. This means everyone is involved and stops the superstars amongst us dominating proceedings. It would be proper kit only(i.e. whites) and competitive. And of course we all end up at the pub afterwards If your interested let us know on here. Then we can throw out the challenge.

Dont let availability put you off showing an interest- we are not talking about a game every week here- if there is enough interest we will organise a match (hopefully v another B&A team) and if everyone enjoys it then we will see what happens from there. Good response so far

. I can get some kit and am hopeful of getting a wicket. . I would look to you to get more than one wicket - plus a couple of catches, maybe a run out and at least twenty runs.

there is also a friendly but competetive Shrewsbury evening league of twenty overs each, always looking for new teams, ours folded about two years ago due to dwindling numbers.

I would be interested in helping in some way (umpire, scorer?). Unfortunately I've knackered my shoulder and am unable to serve up the flighted filth I was once famous for As for veteran status, I recently tipped my kit which included a Herbert Sutcliffe autograph bat and Maurice Leyland pads.

We have a team at work which plays these games - if we can continue to play at Shelton (there are problems concerning insurance) we can arrange a game and go to the Bull in the Barne after.
The Evening League is a bit competitive. They are almost all saturday club players

I may allow MR S&R out to play....but....it would need to be a Sunday.....he still plays Saturdays.
(to scare the young uns he was player of the year last year and is an all rounder!)
The only condition is....you must not ask about Iran Khan......

Deffo! Used to enjoy my mid-week cricket in Aberystwyth (although we dressed in all black) and actually got promotion one year despite one of my college friends actually spending more time grazing the outfield for magic mushrooms than watching the game during a match at the Welsh plant breeding centre Ok playing wise, bowling pretty poor, fielding is good as long as I am close to the wicket as I have a pants throw. My batting is interesting as one season I had an average of 4 a ball for about 4 games. I suppose I am more Andrew Flintoff than David Gower shall we say. Basically I usually either get 4 or 6 or am bowled trying to get 4 or 6. Did play a forward defensive once but died of boredom doing it!

I would be interested Jamo. Played a bit of cricket in my time. Swing bowler, lower order bat, electric reflexes, throw like mule, confidence of an Aussie, love sledging This will not be competitive though will it Actually I could provide a venue for a game or two at school. Evenings (not Wed) and Sundays are best. Would have to get a 22 yard wicket cut on the square but it is a nice surrounding, shorter boundaries so even a nick could get the no-hopers a boundary Let me know. You can pop round and have a look at the "Oval" ;D

love sledging ;D Thought that I'd get in first - despite the British weather, we're not likely to get much snow in June, July or August!
