Costs a bomb for popcorn and drinks. Better to go over the road to Tesco and get drinks from there.

So driving to Telford with extra petrol money is cheaper??? Me thinks not!
Plug the chav to normal person ratio would be seriously higher – almost at dangerous levels if you go to Telford.
All cinimas are expensive - the one in Coventry is even worse same here in Birmingham

I was merely wanting opinions from people about the price
Is there any particular reason that prices have increased or is it just in line with inflation?

Adult ticket has gone up 10p roughly in line with the new financial year starting, I havent checked UCI prices in the last few weeks but every cinema chain has recently reviewed each others prices and most likely increased a nominal amount
FYI the majority of ticket sales money (upto 90%) goes to the film distributors (production costs, actor wages etc)

Odeon in Hanly was something like £3.50 for an adult. It is expensive, best way to get around it is just download the films and plug your laptop into a hifi system, settle down and watch. *this may however be slightly ilegal

dont go then
its not like someone is forcing you to pay like you have to pay for council tax increases
very interested to know how much is reasonable then to go to cineworld..?
please dont say £2... otherwise Ill start saying I remember when I could buy singles for 45p in Boots :-)

I think £6 is reasonable value considering you get a climate controlled, clean room with an amazing sound system
I do object to the prices of refreshments though, absolutely mind bogglingly expensive

Bout £4/£4.20 £6?! thats only just sunk in, I think that is more expensive than the warnerbros in reading for an adult at peak time Lets not forget that Shrewsbury and Shropshire is a slighty backwards place, and I may be wrong but i'd have a guess that people dont exactly earn a fortune round these parts.... I dont mind being ripped off on the popcorn/coke as I take in a bag of tang tastic anyway

its more expensive than any of the multi-plexs in Norwich for sure. costs as much to go to cineworld as a student as it does to get a full adult ticket at ster or uci. are all cineworlds this expensive - or is it just the effective monopoly they hold over shrewsbury coming into play?

. . . get a sky box and pay £40 a month and get 300 movies a month in Digital Dolby Surround Sound (AND also then u can see town on sky and not moan about central news)
Im off to see the manics tonight at wolves.. thought £25 was excessive but then I dont really like them but want to check them out.. however once I found out The Delays were supporting, Id of willingly paid £40 as I adore this band

£6 aint that bad for a couple of hours entertainment - it's only the cost of 2/3 pints of beer which most people would consume in less time than the length of a film

It's £5.80 for Odeon in Rochdale,so not a lot of difference. Regarding the price of refreshments, it is very expensive, but I don't go to the cinema very often so the popcorn is bit of a treat for me, which I don't mind paying for.

It has to be a really good film for me to take my 4 kids out to the cinema i find it too expensive, and i think they should do family tickets.
1x adult +1 child = £9 1x adult +2 children £11 and so on .....
tbh i didn't know an adult ticket was that expensive and i've no idea how much it is for children, i don't want to sound critical because i hardly ever go but i also refuse to take my children to see cartoons parading as full feature films and charging full price, i really do feel that is extortionate (spongebob squarepants for example) and there are many more examples.

why are there so many people rushing to defend cineworld? am i missing something? Doesn't one of our members manage the place? I've only been to Cineworld once and that was a few years ago. I thought it was expensive at the time, but as I ended up watching chicken run (I got out voted!) I think a quid would have been overpriced.

I think £6 is too much to pay in a place like Shrewsbury and said so a short while ago. However there are options such as the Orange offer and the Tuesday special to make it more reasonable. The last 3 times I've been to the cinema apart from Welshpool (£3 and 50p for a can of pop ) was in Telford though as Shrews simply didn't have owt on I wanted to watch.

Cineworld is only minimally more expensive than our UCI in Telford, and I would suggest that the infinitely more plush interior at Cineworld probably justifies this.
Cinema confectionary/refreshments will always be massively over-priced but people are generally more than happy to pay these prices so why would the cinema bosses change their pricing strategy?

I think it's decent value personally.
£6 for a couple of hours' entertainment - especially when you are pretty sure whether it's going to be a decent show or not.
