get a half empty stadium and it would really hurt the fa..... but sadly where one utd fan doesnt go another one will easily replace him/her

For once it seems the majority of ther population agree with the prawn sandwich eaters! The FA needs a flipin shake up as it keeps making ridiculous decisions like this.

Elland Road with 40,000 fans or Cardif with 72,000 fans?
I am sure the extra 10,000 Newcastle fans who see the game won't mind the travelling

Long way to travel, and with both game splayed there on the same weekend the roads will be terrible (its bad enough with one game). And as the fellah says, it's the FA cup, and the final should be a momentus, once a season event, not some money making scam by the FA for southerners.

dont really understand the money argument. surely it's the best venue? fagin put this in the perspective of a family of 4, all supporting the same team and all want to go. There's one money reason for you. The FA Cup has always been a hell of a tradition and gradually the FA over the past x amount of years have allowed it to lose some of the grabbing power it had. Allowing TV to dictate is one thing, why was there all 4 quarter finals live on TV? not one was a sell out.

which is worse
paying for your family of four to go to Cardiff and the associated expense
or only being able to get 2 tickets?
Who wins?
The fact is that wherever you go in the country there are thousands of united fans who would fill every stadium
and Newcastle go everywhere, taking thousands with them, it is part of their culture
Cardiff is brilliant stadium and a great city and Wembley is going to have to be breathtaking to be able to match the experience
Basically the FA are damned if they do and damned if they don't
people don;t want a Cup Final on a Wednesday night, they want it at the end fo the season, on a saturday, and they want to win the world cup
well choose, what is the most important
and because of ticketing allocations there are plenty of people who get to see the semi final who won;t get one for the final, at least they get the chance of a big day out in Cardiff

Just dont see why the FA Cup semis should be held at Cardiff or Wembley, it devalues the competition full stop. There are plenty of decent neutral venues out there, Man Utd v Newcastle should be held at Hillsborough or Elland Road (with capacities of 40,000) and Arsenal v Blackburn should be held at Villa Park (capacity 40,000).

"next we will be saying we should refuse to play away ties in the Champions League to save travelling "
....... not a burning issue, right now?

I think the games should be played in the stadium that will allow more supporters from each club to attend. If thats Cardiff then so be it...as many supporters as possible should be given the chance to see the game. I'm sure Newcastle and Manchester will pack the Cardiff stadium...meaning if they had played at Leeds there would have been 1000's of disapointed fans...

I remember people saying we should not play in cardiff at all because it is not even in England and it was just about the money...
But I cannot see how 72,000 fans, a high percentage of which are genuine fans able to get tickets, in a brilliant stadium, devalues anything at all
It shows how important and special FA Cup semi finals are
and then they get to the final, and yes they do go back to Cardiff, but does that mean the FA Cup Final experience is devalued?
I struggle to believe anyone would be deeply disappointed with an FA Cup Final appearance because they had already been to the ground before

the only trouble with grounds that are too small is you are likely to get certain fans turn up without tickets and force their way in
remember hillsborough ?
saying that i think the security at top flight grounds is adequate today and could handle any semi final

Play it in Cardiff and let as many fans have the chance to travel and watch their team.
If you can't afford to travel to the game then, like most things in life it's hard luck time
