To be fair how many other clubs will do it? Fair do's to Wycombe, but its hardly Town's fault if they dont do it. Its not as if the club can afford to do it.
BE REAL please

BE REAL please If the club show a bit of ambition to do something similar then it can be done. These ideas can be done by getting sponsorship from local firms. If AFC Telford can get a gate of nearly 4,000 for a Unibond game through a similar initiative then I think STFC should be capeable of achieving a full gate from a likewise idea. With the NM on the horizon we should be looking for reasons why we can do things like this, not why not.

Club can't afford to do ticket offers? Last I knew they were considering kids for a quid for the Cambridge game.

What Im talking about is all and sundry in for nothing.
Agreed if they can get some sponsorship deal to cover the costs then so be it, but isnt sponsorship hard to come by? Is there a shirt sponsor for next season yet?

What Im talking about is all and sundry in for nothing. But Dunc said it would be nice for STFC to do 'some kind of offers' and you said 'get real'. Which is precisely the attitude Roland Wycherly has and is precisley why I'm s**t scared about moving to the New Meadow.

Is there a shirt sponsor for next season yet? I think if you were asking one firm to pay £100k to sponsor free entry for 8,000 people you'd struggle! But there are ways around this. AFC Telford's idea is a great example. Local firms (or even individuals) pay £300 to sponsor a school to go to the game for free. £300 to most businesses isn't a lot - it's some great PR for them and to be honest, most won't want to miss out if their competitors are doing it. There are plenty of chances out there for the club to put on offers, just needs a bit of ambition to fulfil them.

I know all about RW's attitude and like you Im worried about the future with the regime we have at this moment in time. But do you honestly think they would even think of doing such an idea as Wycombes? get the sponsors together etc? Nope nor do I

How does kids for a £1 work And do kids that have forked out pre season for a season ticket get a rebate I doubt very much anything will happen for the Cambridge game. Surely it should have been in place before Saturdays game to get maximum exposure to potental customers and their friends.

And as for young season ticket holders, they have already had a massive reduction so doesn't affect them in any way, shape or form. Personally, I thought the Cambridge game wasn't a good game to do it at, simply because we should be able to attract a decent crowd to that game if marketed well a la Chester and Kiddie (albeit it's left to our manager and media manager to do the marketing). I always had a feeling there will be a couple of 'spare' home games post-Easter where nothing rides on the result but where we'd want to keep the ground busy.

If we're coasting in safely with a game or two to go, I think the end-of-season home game would be an ideal time to have a celebratory discount. After all, compared to the losses of dropping back out of the league, it would probably be a fair deal. And they would recoup it next year when they put the gate price up

Any initiative that attempts to encourage more people through the turnstiles is worth trying. For too long football clubs have remained reluctant to change and have abused the loyalty of regular attenders.
Prime amongst them is STFC, a conservative and inward thinking company that is in desperate need of new ideas.
Anything should be considered and tried. There is absolutely no shame in trying something that does not work according to plan. Have a proper evaluation afterwards and go again with something else.

Top post Jamo Things need to be properly planned. If STFC are going to be doing something like kids for a quid it needs pubilising weeks in advance.
