Brought a laptop off there just under a year ago for £200 notes, it died on me after 3 days. Fortunately I put it back on Ebay as "spares and repairs" and got £180 back. The barsteward who sold it changed from a real socialble bloke to being a complete ass..."it was working fine here" Dont you just hate twits like that?

I've recently brought a sega megadrive, and 7 games, all working fine, the seller was really good.
Just watch out, and view their feedback before bidding.

what was his feedback like (for selling stuf)
and if you'd used paypal you could have put a claim in, which would have frozen his paypal account and caused him no end of grief

Check the person's feedback first. If it's cr@p don't bid. If it's an expensive item and their feedback is low then don't bid. Make sure you get yourself a paypal account. Always pay that way and you can claim your money back if something goes wrong (up to 45 days after payment was made). If it looks too good to be true, more often than not it is. Use an auction sniping tool to place your bid (www.auctionsniper.com). It saves you getting into bidding wars and as it automatically places a bid 5 seconds from the end, assuming you are now high bidder then nobody will have time to go back and place a higher bid. It also stops shill bidders (people who have a couple of IDs and bid on their own stuff to bump up the price). Check out the ebay messageboards - always a lot of help to be found on there.

I use ebay as buyer and seller and think it's great. Just be aware of what you're doing and deal with people who have a high feedback score with 95%+ positive.
If the item you wanted becomes too expensive there'll be another one along soon.

Personally i'd only deal with music sellers, especially those with a rating of at least 99.7% positive ;D

my biggest sell was £3.1k, my biggest buy was £1k, the majority of Buyers /Sellers are just out to do a deal and you should have no problems, theres a few scammers etc...just be alert, if you get any offers of the same kit for less via email, dont bother, its 99.9% going to be a scammer.
My, Buy/Sell totals on ebay have to be approaching the £15k mark by now and i have had no problems at all

Ive become addicted to it recently. Im a bit cautious tho, i never bid for anythin unless the seller has 100% positive feedback.

buying
check the feedback check the postage pay with credit card for expensive items
selling
pointless jumping in and selling an expensive item with a score of zero, i bought i few cheap items first to build a score up
never send out any item until you have the money (not matter how much of a sob story they give)
i once sold a phone for 120 quid buyer paid with stolen credit card phoned me everyday to see if i had sent it credit card details didnt match his details ebay advised me not to send item he got quite threatening, so i told him i had reported a credit card fraud to the police (never heard from him again) i sold phone to a mate and got to keep the 120 as well ;D

I use ebay quite a bit
I bought a laptop for £300, used it for two years and sold it for £200, not bad at all
DVDs are great on there as long as you are sure it is an original
I have never had any problem and have picked up some great bargains, mostly around the £1.50-£2.50 bracket
I bought a tap for my kitchen at less then half the retail price
My feedback is 100% for over 90 items, and I have never had a problem either buying or selling
