After reading the posts under the "fever pitch" thread earlier, I have come to the conclusion that The Meadow is a political hotbed of disquiet !
Thread started well then kind of went down a rabbit warren losing the emphasis on the core question posed.
I now expect (excuse spelling) Che Guevera, Hitler, Stalin and Lord Such to walk past me on the Wakeman next week, I had no idea these people supported the Town !
I'm going to take my autograph book and camera next week......
;D

I will meet you anytime and talk politics, or anything else for that matter. I doubt everyone that has posted on the thread you quoted would

He can turn the most inane conversation into his hate filled anti immigration, anti black, anti asian b******s.

I remember agreeing not to respond to the so long as everyone did. He's a cunning f***er tho' (not as clever as he thinks he is, but still cunning); he starts off with an unexceptionable, if slightly random, thread, then starts his bulls**t as soon as someone replies. Once he posts racist s**te, I, for one can't let it go unchallenged.

I never vowed to ignore his posts and I wil freely talk politics.
It's good to have such strong and differing political opinions on the site.

Politics aside, Fever Pitch made me realise how desperately sad I was following my football team home and away. Football had consumed me for years and this book gave me a sharp reality check.
It also coincided with the birth of my twins and subsequent absence of spare cash, so I hardly went to the Meadow at all for the next seven years...
I finally got over it in August 2001 and now my girls accompany me to the games.

I just happened to look up the back of the Riverside when THAT song started up at half time. One kid singing was about 13 years of age What the hell does he know about the IRA

I just happened to look up the back of the Riverside when THAT song started up at half time. One kid singing was about 13 years of age What the hell does he know about the IRA Cheers HHS. I agree exactly; as a kid up on the Riverside I was heavily (sadly) influenced by those around me and it's very hard to challenge the point of view you hear all the time if there's never any alternative to it. Back in the 70s in Salop there was little opposition to the monocultural consensus. I was lucky in having a girlfriend who not only challenged my views but put up with me long enough to have an effect. (She was a fine figure of a girl too, but that's a different matter...!!) As soon as they meet people who talk sense, most people are fine. The problem is that if all they hear is CS's cr@p, what else is there to believe? BTW I can't see him taking up your excellent offer to talk politics, for the same reason he won't take up the suggestion to stand for the BNP in Salop (or anywhere else for that matter). He's a keyboard warrior.
