From the BBC web site: Eccleston quits Doctor Who role Actor Christopher Eccleston has quit as Doctor Who after just one episode of the new series has been screened, the BBC has confirmed. Eccleston, whose first appearance as the ninth Time Lord attracted around 10 million viewers, feared being typecast.

Thats crazy, he could have done the whole series and if he still wasn't happy he could take his turdis back in time and not do it. Just goes to show you can't get a doctor when you need one these days can you !

Very disappointed, but not surprising if you read all the interviews etc. in the specialist press.
The bloke out of Casanova's expected to take over, could be interesting.

Blimey, most important news of the day and only 3 posts Well, I'm pleased - thought Eccleston was very irritating. Of those tipped to succeed him I'd go for Richard E. Grant - the right sort of hammy thesp with a touch of ecccentricity. Plus he could wear the coat out of Withnail and I. ;D

Eccleston's last episode will be the Christmas special - hopefully we'll get a proper regeneration then...

Thats crazy, he could have done the whole series and if he still wasn't happy he could take his turdis back in time and not do it. He has done the whole series. He has said he doesn't want to do the second series, which would be next year some time.
